Summary: 'UAM14-122-17-7 and UAM14-123-18-3' are medium maturity group, high-yielding, Striga-resistance cowpea cultivars developed and released in 2022 by the Cowpea Breeding Program of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi. These cultivars have larger seed sizes, brown seed coat texture, and higher seed protein content compared to previous cultivars. They showed absolute resistance to Striga gesnerioides race 3 and good adaptation for intercropping with cereals.
