However, the association between blood pressure and the risk of new-onset AF weakened in postmenopausal women. Summary: Experimental studies suggest that periostin may play a role in tissue repair and remodeling. This study aimed to assess serum periostin levels as a potential biomarker in pediatric patients with primary hypertension. The findings showed that periostin levels were lower in children with primary hypertension compared to healthy controls, and were correlated with age, BMI, uric acid, and lipid concentrations. The presence of hypertension and blood pressure levels did not significantly impact periostin levels.

Summary: This study evaluated the agreement between app-assisted home blood pressure monitoring and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and found significant disagreement between the two methods. App-assisted home blood pressure monitoring had high sensitivity in diagnosing sustained and masked hypertension, and can be used as a complement to 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Summary: Frailty is associated with increased risk of death and cardiovascular events, but it is unclear whether frailty modifies the effectiveness and safety of intensive blood pressure control. Using data from the SPRINT trial, a frailty index was constructed. It was found that patients with frailty had a higher cardiovascular risk, but no significant difference in treatment effects or adverse events with intensive blood pressure control.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of mixtures of lead and various metals on blood pressure and the likelihood of pre-hypertension and hypertension in Chinese adults. The findings revealed that higher blood lead levels were associated with increased odds of pre-hypertension and hypertension. Additionally, blood arsenic levels were found to be associated with increased odds of pre-hypertension, while urinary molybdenum levels were associated with lower odds of hypertension. The analysis also showed that metal mixture levels in blood, with lead being the largest contributor, were significantly associated with higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the frequency of hemodynamic instability in pediatric continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) and its association with patient outcomes. The study found that one in four filter connections during CKRT resulted in hypotension and one in six resulted in tachycardia. Higher severity of illness at the initiation of CKRT was independently associated with hypotension.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a predictive model for masked hypertension and determine the optimal thresholds for screening. The results showed that ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) could be selectively used in individuals with clinic systolic blood pressure (BP) <20th percentile and diastolic BP <80th percentile. However, even in this subgroup, the prevalence of masked hypertension was still relatively high, suggesting that routine ABPM remains recommended.

However, there is a lack of published literature on the transition process in this population, leading to considerable gaps in the field.
