Summary: This study investigated the associations between self-rated health, interviewer-rated health, objective health and mortality among Chinese older adults. The findings showed that baseline self-rated health, interviewer-rated health, and objective health were significantly associated with 10-year mortality. Additionally, changes in self-rated health, interviewer-rated health, and objective health from 2008 to 2014 were significantly associated with 4-year mortality. It is suggested to promote the use of cost-effective indicators in primary medical institutions to improve health management for older adults.

Summary: The study found that when comparing older adults in Brazil and Portugal, their self-rated health assessment was closely related to factors such as cognitive levels, handgrip strength, and neuroticism. Portuguese older adults had better overall cognition scores, higher handgrip strength, and higher neuroticism values compared to Brazilian older adults. Older adults in Brazil showed more significant relationships between cognitive scores and neuroticism levels with their self-rated health assessment.

Summary: Personality traits are known to contribute to life satisfaction, but the reasons behind their connection are not fully understood. This study examined whether self-rated health (SRH), which reflects an individual's subjective perception of their health, mediates the relationship between the Big Five personality traits and life satisfaction in older adults from the UK. The results showed that SRH partially mediates the associations between all the Big Five traits and life satisfaction in older adults. These findings suggest that SRH may help explain the connections between personality traits and life satisfaction.

Summary: The Hamilton Neighbourhoods Study aimed to assess the short-term impacts of the City of Hamilton's Neighbourhood Action Strategy on health and neighbourhood outcomes. A quasi-experimental study was conducted with 881 intervention participants and 173 control participants to investigate changes in self-rated health and mental health. The findings suggest that place-based interventions targeted at high poverty neighbourhoods may only have modest impacts on health in the short-term.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the MCID thresholds for 3 commonly used PROMs after surgical intervention for each of 4 common lumbar spine pathologies. The findings suggest that the use of generic MCID thresholds across pathologies in lumbar spine surgery is not recommended. For patients with relatively low or high presurgery PROM scores, MCIDs based on percentage change, rather than absolute change, appear generally preferable.

Summary: This paper examines the contribution of pilot implementation studies to the wider spread and sustainability of innovation in healthcare systems. Through an empirical examination of an innovation intermediary organization in the English NHS, the study finds that their work in mobilizing pilot-based evidence involves configuring to context, transitioning evidence, and managing the transition. The findings contribute to theory by showing how intermediary roles can support the effective transitioning of pilot-based evidence, leading to more widespread adoption and sustainability of innovation.
