Summary: Our study found inconsistency in population characteristics and methodology among RCTs, which may have led to the lack of significant associations between different levels of daily sodium intake and systemic inflammation levels in humans. Suggestions for future RCTs include focusing on young healthy participants, having three arms of daily sodium intake levels, and an adequate intervention duration of 14 days.

Summary: This meta-analysis and systematic review found that elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) are significantly associated with shortened overall survival in osteosarcoma patients, while CRP level is significantly associated with shortened disease-specific survival. However, lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are not statistically significant in predicting the prognosis of osteosarcoma.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive value of systemic immune index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) in the prognosis of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The results showed that SII and SIRI can be used as independent predictors to predict the prognosis and survival status of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and they have certain predictive accuracy. Therefore, SII and SIRI should be considered in studies that update survival risk assessment systems.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed and analyzed the demographic profile, clinical characteristics, management strategies, prognosis, and pathophysiology of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children associated with COVID-19. It found a male predilection, gastrointestinal and cardiac symptoms being prominent, and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment for a favorable outcome.

Summary: This study examined the effects of acute and chronic exercise on inflammatory responses in individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that exercise did not significantly affect inflammatory markers in IBD patients, but regular moderate exercise improved bowel symptoms.

Summary: There is increasing evidence supporting the use of perioperative intravenous lidocaine infusion in surgical patients for its analgesic, opioid-sparing, and anti-inflammatory effects. This systematic review examined the impact of intravenous lidocaine infusion on postoperative anti-inflammatory status in patients undergoing elective surgery. The review found that lidocaine infusion significantly reduced IL-6 levels and other pro-inflammatory markers, providing support for its use as an anti-inflammatory strategy in elective surgery.

Summary: This systematic review examines the utility of ultrasound methods in predicting non-invasive ventilation (NIV) outcomes. The findings suggest that lung ultrasound scores and diaphragm thickening fraction can accurately predict NIV failure, including the need for ICU-level care, invasive mechanical ventilation, and higher mortality rates.

Summary: The umbrella systematic review assessed 17 meta-analyses on the association between biomarkers and epithelial ovarian cancer outcomes, showing that high NLR and PLR, as well as low LMR, are independent predictors of poor prognosis. Most studies were conducted by Chinese researchers, highlighting issues of low quality and lacking critical domains.

This systematic review highlights the changes in immune cell numbers and functions after burns, showing a prolonged inflammatory response. This research provides essential insights for improving burn care and outcomes.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the association between various biomarkers and clinical outcomes in nasopharyngeal cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The analysis revealed that lower baseline plasma EBV DNA levels, decreased EBV DNA load during immunotherapy, and higher PD-L1 expression were associated with better treatment response. Lower baseline plasma EBV DNA levels were also linked to longer progression-free survival (PFS).

Summary: Initial evidence suggests that preoperative administration of omega-3 fatty acids can reduce postoperative inflammatory reaction. However, the effects of immunonutrition with omega-3 fatty acids on inflammatory response in abdominal surgery patients are still unclear. This study found no significant difference in inflammatory markers or postoperative length of hospital stay between the preoperative omega-3 fatty acids group and the control group.

Summary: Symptomatic patients with f-Hb >= 10 mu g/g should undergo further investigation for CRC, while higher f-Hb concentrations could be used to triage for urgency during the COVID-19 recovery phase. Patients with f-Hb <10 mu g/g and without anaemia are very unlikely to be diagnosed with CRC and the majority need no further investigation.

Deprivation is associated with a raised f-Hb in the absence of pathology, which should be considered when utilizing FIT in symptomatic patients.
