Summary: The resource curse theory suggests that regions with abundant natural resources accumulate adverse economic competitiveness, but studies on the causes and mechanisms of cultural resource curses are lacking. This study constructs cultural resource endowment and cultural resource curse coefficients based on the dataset of 29 provinces in China from 2000 to 2019, and measures the distribution of cultural resource curses. The results show a serious cultural resource curse in western China. Multiple factors including place attachment, cultural field, and environmental impact contribute to the curse of cultural resources in western China.

Summary: Understanding the mechanisms and impacts of community-based initiatives in environmental management is crucial, but such evaluations are rare. This study presents a national-scale evaluation of a locally managed marine areas network in Fiji, showing that it improves participation, knowledge, management, and financial support. However, these mechanisms do not lead to significant social outcomes or perceived ecological health improvement.

Summary: This study finds that Confucius Institute plays a positive role in the internationalization of Chinese enterprises, especially in Belt-Road countries, and this effect is more significant after the initiation of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013. The earlier a host country joins the Belt and Road Initiative, the stronger the impact of Confucius Institute on the internationalization of Chinese enterprises.

Summary: Assigning authorship and recognizing contributions to scholarly works is challenging, but recent research suggests that shifting to a more inclusive contributorship approach may help address these challenges. The development of tools like Contributor Role Ontology (CRO) and Contributor Attribution Model (CAM) can aid in structuring contributions and relating contributors to research objects. Adoption of a contributorship-based approach may require further discussion and consideration.

Summary: The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) serves as a global standard for phenotype exchange, with recent major extensions in neurology, nephrology, immunology, pulmonology, and other fields. Efforts have been made to improve computational definitions of phenotypic abnormalities across HPO and multiple phenotype ontologies for animal disease models, benefiting software accuracy and cross-species phenotype matching. Recent initiatives include translating HPO into indigenous languages and advancing its use in electronic health record systems.

Summary: Biological ontologies are used to organize and interpret data from experiments, but integrating multiple ontologies can lead to compatibility issues. The OBO Foundry aims to promote the development and sharing of ontologies through a set of principles.
