CSBF/C10orf99, a novel potential cytokine, inhibits colon cancer cell growth through inducing G1 arrest

Cytokines are soluble proteins that exert their functions by binding specific receptors. Many cytokines play essential roles in carcinogenesis and have been developed for the treatment of cancer. In this study, we identified a novel potential cytokine using immunogenomics designated colon-derived SUSD2 binding factor (CSBF), also known as chromosome 10 open reading frame 99 (C10orf99). CSBF/C10orf99 is a classical secreted protein with predicted molecular mass of 6.5 kDa, and a functional ligand of Sushi Domain Containing 2 (SUSD2). CSBF/C10orf99 has the highest expression level in colon tissue. Both CSBF/C10orf99 and SUSD2 are down-regulated in colon cancer tissues and cell lines with different regulation mechanisms. CSBF/C10orf99 interacts with SUSD2 to inhibit colon cancer cell growth and induce G1 cell cycle arrest by down-regulating cyclin D and cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6). CSBF/C10orf99 displays a bell-shaped activity curve with the optimal effect at similar to 10 ng/ml. Its growth inhibitory effects can be blocked by sSUSD2-Fc soluble protein. Our results suggest that CSBF/C10orf99 is a novel potential cytokine with tumor suppressor functions.

The development and external validation of a nomogram predicting overall survival of gastric cancer patients with inadequate lymph nodes based on an international database

Early Diagnosis of Anastomotic Leakage After Gastric Cancer Surgery Via Analysis of Inflammatory Factors in Abdominal Drainage

DUSP5P1 promotes gastric cancer metastasis and platinum drug resistance

Summary: This study elucidated the functional significance and molecular mechanisms of DUSP5P1 lncRNA in gastric carcinogenesis. High expression of DUSP5P1 was associated with shortened survival in gastric cancer patients and promoted migration, invasion, and metastasis of gastric cancer cells. Mechanistically, DUSP5P1 activated the transcription of ARHGAP5 and dysregulated focal adhesion and MAPK signaling pathways. DUSP5P1 also played a role in platinum drug resistance.

Short-and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic versus open gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Summary: This meta-analysis compared the short- and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) versus open gastrectomy (OG) for gastric cancer. The results showed that the intraoperative complication rate was similar between the two groups, but LG had fewer postoperative complications. The severe postoperative complication rate and perioperative mortality were comparable. LG had a lower number of retrieved lymph nodes and a shorter proximal resection margin distance compared to OG. However, the distal resection margin distance was similar. LG resulted in shorter recovery time, including time to first ambulation and time to first flatus. Additionally, LG had a shorter postoperative length of stay. The 5-year overall survival and disease-free survival were similar between the two groups.

EGR1-mediated linc01503 promotes cell cycle progression and tumorigenesis in gastric cancer

Linc01503 interacts with histone modification enzymes EZH2 and LSD1 to silence DUSP5/CDKN1A expression in GC, mediating cell cycle progression and tumorigenesis.
