Summary: Complex compounds of 3-hydroxy-4-oxo-4H-pyran-2,6-dicarboxylic (meconic) acid with europium(III), gadolinium(III), terbium(III), dysprosium(III), erbium(III), thulium(III) and ytterbium(III) ions were synthesized by ion exchange method in aqueous solution. The compounds exhibited different crystalline and thermal stability properties, while lanthanide ions were coordinated to carboxyl groups and oxygen atoms forming polymer chain. The triplet level of the ligand was determined by phosphorescence spectrum of the Gd3+ complex compound, and the luminescent properties of other complexes were studied.

Summary: This study presents a catalytic route for the synthesis of 2-hydroxy-2-methylsuccinic acid, an excellent monomer that enhances the properties of polybutylene succinate. The process involves catalytic aerobic oxidation of levulinic acid in mild conditions, resulting in a high selectivity of the target product. The study also explores the C-C bond rearrangement and the role of catalysts, potentially inspiring alternative routes for bio-based dicarboxylic acids synthesis.

Summary: Three half-sandwich organometallic ruthenium(II) complexes containing purine analogs have been synthesized and characterized. The most active complex, [(eta(6)-p-cym)Ru(HmtpO)Cl-2], showed high cytotoxicity against HeLa cells and lower toxicity to normal fibroblast cells. This complex also exhibited antimetastatic activity and high antiparasitic effect, making it a promising candidate for further research.

Summary: A synthesis method for 2-cyano-6-styryl-4-pyrones has been developed through modifications of the methyl and carboxyl groups of 6-metylcomanic acid. These pyrones react with nucleophiles at the cyano group and undergo 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition at the styryl moiety with stereo- and regioselectivity. The synthesized compounds show potential as molecular fluorophores with large Stokes shifts.

Summary: This study investigates small organic conjugated molecule-based rare earth complexes as light-conversion materials to improve crop yield in greenhouse films. By enhancing the interaction between the luminescent complex and polymer backbone, the migration rate of the complex is reduced, resulting in high luminescent performance. The use of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid derivatives with different alkyl chain lengths effectively enhances the light-conversion efficiency.
