Summary: The stable water-in-oil Pickering emulsion, fabricated using SO3H-functionalized ionic liquid and surface-modified silica nanoparticles, demonstrated high reaction activity and product selectivity in the synthesis of 2,2'-(4-nitrophenyl) dipyrromethane in a packed-bed microreactor. Compared to liquid-liquid slug-flow microreactors and batch reactors, the Pickering-emulsion-based catalytic system showed higher specific interfacial area, resulting in a higher yield (90%) of the targeted product. This study highlighted the potential of Pickering-emulsion-based packed-bed microreactors utilizing ionic liquids for intensification of organic synthesis through enhanced contact between reactants and catalytic aqueous solutions.

Summary: In this study, a new Mn-based metal-organic framework [UoB-6] was successfully synthesized, and its structure was confirmed by various analysis methods. The aerobic oxidative domino reaction using UoB-6 catalyst yielded xanthene derivatives in good yields. Molecular docking calculations revealed that the newly synthesized xanthene-based bis-aldehydes showed potent HDAC1 inhibitory activity. Additionally, the inhibitory effects of Mn-MOF nanoparticles on Escherichia coli and Candida albicans were evaluated.

Summary: In this work, a Rh(I)-catalyzed C3-alkenylation of 2,2'-bipyridine-6-carboxamide with terminal and internal alkynes was developed, providing an efficient access to a broad range of alkenylated 2,2'-bipyridine derivatives with exclusive regioselectivity and stereoselectivity. Deuterium labeling experiments indicate that an irreversible rollover C-H activation process is involved in this reaction.

Summary: A reusable SO3H functionalized heterogeneous catalyst was prepared from walnut shell powder and used for the conversion of oleic acid to methyl oleate. Under optimized conditions, a conversion rate of 99.01% was achieved. This sustainable catalyst utilizes agricultural waste, exhibits high lignin content, and can be reused for multiple reaction cycles.

Summary: In this study, incorporation of sulfamic acid (SA) into mesoporous silica (MCM-41) was successfully achieved to prepare SA/MCM-41 composites with different weight content of SA. The composites were characterized using various techniques and displayed excellent performance in multicomponent reactions. The acidic strength of the composites improved progressively with increasing SA content, leading to high catalytic efficiency without significant loss in performance upon reuse.

Summary: In this study, a newly reported modified polymeric catalyst poly(vinylpyrrolidonium) perchlorate {[PVPH]ClO4} was used as an efficient and reusable solid acid catalyst for the synthesis of 2H-indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-trione derivatives. The reactions were conducted under mild conditions with excellent yields obtained in short reaction times. Importantly, the solid acid catalyst demonstrated the ability to be reused multiple times without significant loss in activity.
