Summary: The study demonstrates a method of mass producing a pure starch food packaging film consisting of starch nanofibers without the need for nonstarch components, by using temperature-assisted electrospinning technique. The application of a stearic acid coating inspired by lotus leaves creates a superhydrophobic surface on the film, enhancing its thermal stability and surface energy, and enabling water to roll freely in all directions, crucial for self-cleaning.

Summary: A photocatalytic self-cleaning coating was developed for continuous removal of NO under both illumination and dark conditions. The coating can also autonomously recover hydrophobicity and NO purification function through photocatalysis. Simulation results showed that H2O molecules were preferentially adsorbed over NO, indicating the adverse effect of humidity on NO purification. Statistical analysis of NO concentration in the tunnel demonstrated that this coating effectively improved air quality in open spaces. This study provides an energy-saving and effective method to control air pollution and promote green development of highway tunnels.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of sulfur, calcination temperature, and structure on the texture-photoelectronic characters and performance of g-C3N4. S-doped g-C3N4 nanofiber showed a significant improvement in the H2 evolution rate compared to S-doped g-C3N4 bulk. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of SCNF samples was attributed to their unique photoelectronic-texture feature.

Summary: The integration of BiVO4/TiO2 composite into zinc coating is an effective strategy to enhance its hydrophobicity, corrosion resistance, self-cleaning performance, and photocatalytic performance. The coating shows excellent corrosion resistance and chemical stability, maintaining its hydrophobic nature even after 21 days of immersion in NaCl solution. It has wide potential applications in marine and industrial fields.

Summary: The rapid accumulation of dead bacteria or protein on a bactericidal surface can reduce its effectiveness and alter its biocidal activity. Therefore, developing a self-cleaning surface is crucial. In this project, a sugar-responsive self-cleaning coating has been developed, which can kill attached microbials and release dead cells and foulants.

Summary: A self-cleaning synergistic photocatalytic coating with excellent superamphiphobicity and NO degradation performance was constructed. The coating inhibited the production of NO2 during the process of NO degradation, indicating a greener photocatalytic process. The inhibition of NO2 and the green degradation mechanism of the coating were explored and proposed, providing theoretical support for the green application of photocatalysis.

Summary: Various industrial surface materials were tested for their photocatalytic self-cleaning activity using the ISO 27448:2009 method. The method was found to have strong limitations, as it can only be applied to specific types of hydrophilic and smooth surfaces. Materials that are hydrophobic or have rough surfaces cannot be accurately evaluated using this standard. The study suggests alternative testing solutions and emphasizes the careful interpretation of results.

Summary: In this study, hydrophobic cotton fabrics were efficiently fabricated using poly(glycidyl methacrylate) nanoparticles (PGMA NPs) via a radical-induced dispersion polymerization technique. The long alkyl chain of octadecyl mercaptan provided low surface free energy, while PGMA NPs acted as anchors, forming covalent bonds with the cotton fabric surface and resulting in increased roughness. The modified fabric exhibited enhanced hydrophobicity due to nano- and micro-scale roughness.
