Summary: Mesocrystals of (NH4)2Ta2O3F6 were successfully constructed through oriented self-assembly and calcination processes, with the formation factors investigated under hydrothermal conditions. The addition of acetic acid altered the morphology evolution of mesocrystals, and sample (NH4)2Ta2O3F6-160 exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methylene blue.

Summary: Poriferous monocrystal-like nanostructures contribute to long-distance charge transfer pathways and rapid diffusions of degraded products, attracting wide attention. Layered and poriferous (Al,C)-Ta2O5 mesocrystals were fabricated by topotactic transformation strategy for visible-light photocatalytic antibiotic degradation, showing enhanced performance due to elemental doping. This work also suggests tantalum-based semiconductors as a new option for high-performance environmental photocatalysis.

Summary: Mesocrystals are oriented polycrystals with crystallographically ordered nano crystals showing single crystal electron diffraction behavior. Perovskite mesocrystals, a novel class of mesocrystalline nano materials, exhibit synergistic and anomalous properties and have been extensively studied. Understanding the chemical formation processes and mechanisms affecting performance of perovskite mesocrystals is crucial for the design of advanced materials.

Summary: Optical characterization of PbWO4 single crystals grown by the Czochralski method was performed using spectroscopic ellipsometry experiments. The tetragonal scheelite structure and the energy dependence of the complex dielectric function of the crystal were determined. The refractive index, dielectric constant, and optical band gap were calculated, and two critical points in the dielectric function were identified.

Summary: The most stable non-centrosymmetric trigonal structure of CsGeI3 perovskite system was found in calculations, different from CsSnI3 perovskite systems. A distorted stable structure of mixed Sn-Ge perovskite system (CsSn0.5Ge0.5I3) was proposed. The bandgap evolution of CsSnxGe1-xI3 perovskites is completely different from Sn-Pb perovskite compounds, showing a linear change after considering the spin-orbit coupling effect.

Summary: The evolutionary properties of optical vortices overlaid with Gaussian backgrounds in optical tweezers were analyzed. A Tornado-like pattern, with superior trapping ability for microparticles, is obtained when the Gaussian background is wide enough compared to the optical vortices. The Tornado-like pattern shows similar structures in intensity and phase, with the latter being a clockwise rotation of the former.

Summary: The optical and electronic properties of molybdenum-doped rutile TiO2 prepared by the mechanochemical method were studied experimentally and using density functional theory (DFT). The results showed the successful incorporation of molybdenum in the crystal lattice and a reduction in the bandgap energy of rutile.

Summary: By doping Nd:YAB nanoparticles with different proportions and controlling the optical gain density, the optical properties of PDMS elastomer can be adjusted for precise control of random lasing. The study found that by adjusting the concentration of scattering centers and optical gain, the threshold and linewidth of the laser can be effectively reduced, achieving easy control of the RL intensity.

Summary: This study utilized Al-doped hydroxyapatite nanorods with hyaluronic acid surface functionalization for pH-responsive delivery of doxorubicin in cancer treatment. The Al-HAp showed a 10% larger specific surface area and 30% higher doxorubicin loading capacity compared to HAp due to increased surface area and pore size from Al doping, resulting in outstanding biocompatibility and enhanced anti-cancer effects.

Summary: In this study, CH3NH3PbI3 and CH3NH3Pb0.97Hg.I-03(3) perovskite thin films were fabricated using a single-step spin coating method, and the influence of Hg doping on optical and structural properties was systematically investigated. The doped perovskite showed a bandgap similar to 1.56 eV, making it ideal for photovoltaic applications. The results suggest that transition metals like Hg can enhance the absorption energy and structural properties of lead-free perovskite materials for innovative photovoltaic applications.

Summary: The paper discusses the theory of acoustic wave propagation in lead tungstate (PWO) and the application of laser ultrasonics to measure acoustic properties and absorbed energy in PWO crystals. It presents a set-up that uses shock waves generated by a pulsed Nd-YAG laser to deposit energy in the crystals. The study confirms that a laser-based method can effectively recover radiation-damaged PWO crystals by improving optical transmittance.

Summary: The optical properties of carbon molecules are influenced by the number and position of hydroxyl groups as well as the type of ligands. The doping of sulfur impurity leads to a longer wavelength shift in the UV-Vis spectrum compared to boron and nitrogen impurities.

Summary: The study systematically investigates the doping effect of boron and sulfur atoms on the electronic and adsorption properties of graphene through density functional theory simulations. The results show that the ratio of B and S atom doping determines the type of conductivity exhibited by graphene, with a ratio less than 2 resulting in n-type and higher ratios leading to p-type conductivity. Additionally, the role of vacancy defects in graphene and the transformation behavior from p to n-type induced by increasing S atom doping are highlighted.

Summary: The citric-nitrate technique was used to synthesize polycrystalline Nd2Ni1-xCoxMnO6& delta; (0.2 & LE; x & LE; 0.5) perovskite oxide. The phase formation was studied using X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), and the unit cell parameters and unit cell volume increased with the increasing concentration of cobalt. UV-vis spectroscopy was used to perform an optical study, revealing an absorption peak at around 330 nm. The substitution of nickel by cobalt decreased the Curie temperature (TC) and increased the irreversibility between zero-field cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) states below TC.
