Summary: White-light emission can be achieved by combining neutral and protonated forms of push-pull 4-substituted and 4,7-disubstituted quinazolines in the appropriate ratio. These compounds, prepared by straightforward Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, demonstrate remarkable emission solvatochromism and the ability to exhibit multicolor photoluminescence, including white light, through controlled protonation of the electron-deficient quinazoline ring.

Summary: In this study, beta-functionalized push-pull zinc opp-dibenzoporphyrins were designed and synthesized as sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells. The utilization of arylamine as the donor group effectively solved the solar cell instability. Different arylamine donor groups showed varying electronic effects, with diphenylamine and phenothiazine exhibiting strong push-pull characteristics while carbazole canceled out this effect. Solar cells using YH9 and YH10 achieved high power conversion efficiencies, comparable to that of the best ruthenium dye N719. The potential of pi-extended porphyrins as sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells was demonstrated in this work.

Summary: Fifteen dyes based on Michler's aldehyde with different electron accepting groups were designed and synthesized. These dyes showed a broad absorption range in the visible spectrum. The solvatochromism of these dyes in various solvents of different polarities correlated linearly with the Kamlet-Taft solvent polarity scale or the SPP Catalan empirical scales. The dyes were characterized using photoluminescence spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry, and theoretical calculations were performed to further understand their optical properties.
