Summary: The present work investigates the effect of thickness on the nonlinear optical properties of Erbium-doped zinc oxide (EZO) films. EZO thin films with varying thickness were prepared using a spin coating method. The films were analyzed using various techniques, and it was found that a thickness of 280 nm exhibited the best nonlinear behavior. This research provides insights for designing high-order optical limiter devices.

Summary: In this study, homogeneous thin films of Molybdenum oxide (MoO3) were successfully grown on quartz and glass substrates using the thermal evaporation method. The films exhibited amorphous nature and nearly uniform surfaces with worm-like shape grains. The optical and electrical properties of the films were investigated, revealing their linear and nonlinear optical characteristics, as well as the temperature dependence of their DC electrical conductivity and conduction mechanism.

Summary: Cr-doped Co3O4 thin films were prepared by spray pyrolysis on soda-lima glass. The structure and morphology of the prepared samples were characterized by GIXRD, FTIR, and SEM. The results showed the formation of a single cubic spinel phase with a crystallite size of 6 nm. Optical absorption spectra revealed different electronic transitions and estimations of the band gap structure. The electrical resistivity was found to increase with increasing Cr content. Additionally, the resistivity decreased under visible illumination and increased under infrared illumination, with the sensitivity enhanced by increasing the Cr content. This work introduces a new application for Co3O4 material as a light detector.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of nonthermal plasma characteristics on surface treatments of polyvinyl alcohol. Various diagnostics, such as Raman spectroscopy, work of adhesion, optical emission spectroscopy, and current-voltage measurements, were used. The findings highlight the importance of controlling the plasma's electron temperature and density to achieve desired surface treatment outcomes. Plasma jets with varying electron temperatures are found to be more suitable for different surface treatments, with high electron temperatures (>1.1 eV) suitable for functional group insertion and low electron temperatures for plasma etching, which increases surface roughness significantly.

Summary: The WSe2/reduced graphene oxide composite prepared by solvothermal reaction showed significantly enhanced third order nonlinear optical and optical limiting responses, with even more pronounced optical nonlinearity in the PVA film. This suggests potential applications in nonlinear optical devices for transition metal dichalcogenides/graphene composites.

Summary: Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a biodegradable synthetic polymer with high biocompatibility and non-toxicity, widely used in biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. Utilizing PVA to prepare hydrogels, microparticles, or nanoparticles for cancer treatment shows promising results in improving drug solubility, targeted drug delivery, and reducing toxicity and side effects. The combination of PVA with copolymers has emerged as a viable strategy for building novel functional composites for drug delivery systems in cancer treatment.
