Summary: Reusing end-of-life products is an effective way to reduce environmental waste. This study develops a reuse-efficiency model to quantitatively evaluate the extent of reuse of these products. The model takes into account factors such as product durability, collection rate of end-of-life products, and maximum number of reuse cycles. The study aims to maximize the reuse efficiency per unit cost to determine the optimal product durability, collection rate, and maximum reuse cycles. The findings provide insights for promoting product redistribution and reuse, contributing to an improved circular economy.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive review and summary of combinatorial optimization problems (COPs) in reverse logistics (RL) and remanufacturing processes. Typical COPs at the end of the product life cycle are discussed and analyzed for the first time. A total of 160 papers published since 1992 are selected and categorized into three modules: facility location and vehicle routing in RL, scheduling in remanufacturing, and disassembly in remanufacturing. Existing research gaps are identified and possible directions are described.

Summary: The paper discusses the concept of Smart and Sustainable Circular Economy (SSCE) and identifies barriers in technology, producers, consumers, and policy aspects. Principal results show that challenges such as ownership issues, lack of governmental support, administrative burden, and ineffective execution of environmental regulations are fundamental barriers to SSCE. Additionally, lack of integration and collaboration among supply chain partners, ineffective adoption of CE frameworks, and product complexity are identified as effect barriers that are easily influenced by other factors and have short-term implications.

Summary: This paper examines a duopoly channel in the context of the smartphone industry, where a high-end firm sells its own brand at a high profit margin and a low-end firm sells its own brand at a low profit margin but can differentiate by remanufacturing high-end cores. The study analyzes how cost structure and customers' valuation influence the equilibrium strategies of both firms, including conditions for the low-end firm to engage in remanufacturing and how the high-end firm reacts to maintain its market share.

Summary: The traditional partner selection in reverse logistics focuses on recyclers for remanufacturers, neglecting the selection of remanufactures for recyclers and the mutual matching of the two parties. This study proposes a multi-attribute bilateral matching framework for recycling and remanufacturing services, considering the interdependence among service matching attributes and decision makers' behavior. An integrated methodology is developed to determine service matching satisfaction using grey theory, Best-Worst Method, Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory, and Interactive and Multi-Criteria Decision Making. A collaboration-oriented bilateral matching model is constructed to maximize matching satisfaction and achieve service synergy between remanufacturers and recyclers. The optimal service matching scheme is obtained using the linear weighting method. The results provide references for optimal allocation of service resources and the transition to collaborative remanufacturing service.

Summary: Previous research has overlooked the arrangement of on-hand inventory saved in the warehouse in the integrated scheduling problems. In this study, we propose a new production-inventory-distribution integrated scheduling problem that considers the production plan, allocation plan of on-hand inventory, and distribution decision simultaneously. We develop a mixed integer linear programming model and a modified NSGA-II algorithm to solve the problem. The proposed integration mode is shown to be effective compared with sequential scheduling methods commonly used in actual production.
