Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sustainable use of (clean) sulphidic mining waste materials in facing bricks. After materials' characterisation, a company-specific blend for facing bricks was modified by partly replacing primary raw materials with mining waste materials. The production processes, product quality, and environmental performance of waste-derived bricks were assessed.

Summary: This study used a dynamic recycling model to evaluate the mining production and mining land recovery efficiency in China's coal-producing regions. The results showed that the mining production efficiency was higher in major coal-producing regions, but the mining land recovery efficiency was lower. The study also suggested improving human resources in the mining industry to enhance mining management and sustainability efficiency.

Summary: Developmental processes influence human health, and incorporating Sustainable Development Goal indicators into environmental impact assessment (EIA) practices can help improve the quantification of health impacts. This study identified 17 health-related indicators from the SDGs that could be relevant for impact assessment procedures, categorized into direct health indicators, complex indicators, and environmental determinant indicators.

Summary: Antimony (Sb) is a toxic element with critical importance, but there is limited data on the environmental impact of Sb mining in Vietnam. A study on mine waste and soil samples from Mau Due mine in North Vietnam revealed high concentrations of Sb in the waste samples and low release of Sb in water. Stibnite was found in one waste sample but not in soil samples.

Summary: This study examines the impact of mining firms' sustainable environmental strategy on their financial performance and investigates the moderating role of firm competitiveness and market orientation. The results show a positive relationship between sustainable environmental strategy and firm competitiveness, and market orientation moderates this relationship, especially when it is high. Additionally, firm competitiveness mediates the relationship between sustainable environmental strategy and financial performance.

Summary: This research proposes an innovative approach that integrates different geophysical techniques to characterize the impact of mining activity on the subsurface. By using electrical resistivity and electromagnetic methods to measure subsurface electrical properties, as well as seismic refraction and Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves to characterize the geometry, depth, and geomechanical behavior of soil and rock bodies, the distribution of potentially contaminating fluids and tailings material in the mining valley can be gained insight into.

Summary: This study aims to explore the outcomes of mining activities and their testing in an open pit mine in Iran. It is conducted in two sections, qualitative and quantitative, using semi-structured interviews and literature review for qualitative data analysis, and standard questionnaires with SPSS26 and Mplus software for quantitative data analysis. The findings indicate that mining activities have the highest impact on the environment and individual health, while the impact on the economy is relatively lower. Significant differences are observed between men and women in terms of environmental and economic indicators. The results of this study can contribute to the formulation of effective strategies for controlling potential negative outcomes of mining and achieving sustainable development.
