Summary: Entamoeba histolyticais a globally prevalent protozoan parasite with resistance and side effects to current treatments, motivating the search for new therapeutic targets. Compound D4 has shown amoebicidal effects againstE. histolytica, making it a potential candidate for further drug development. Further research is needed to explore the efficacy of D4 as a drug against E. histolytica.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term survival of patients with recurrent or oligometastatic gynecological cancer (ROMGC) treated with radiation therapy (RT) and investigate their clinical characteristics. The study found that patients in the chemoradiation group had higher median disease-free survival (DFS) compared to those treated with RT alone. Further randomized studies are needed to identify the patients who would benefit the most.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are small membranous vesicles widely present in human body fluids, containing ncRNAs that play crucial roles in disease progression, especially in cancer development. This review summarizes the biological functions of EV ncRNAs in gynecological malignancies and their potential applications in diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: The prevalence of brain cancer is increasing and brings significant healthcare challenges. Immunotherapies present diagnostic imaging challenges for brain tumors. Effective neuroimaging techniques are necessary for diagnosing and monitoring brain tumors, but differentiating between tumors and necrotic lesions or inflamed tissues remains a challenge. This review summarizes recent advances in neuroimaging methods for enhancing brain tumor diagnosis and evaluating inflamed lesions.

Summary: Understanding the molecular interaction between ligand and receptor is crucial for regenerative drug development. This study identifies that extracellular Pgk1 interacts with neural membrane Enolase-2, promoting neurite outgrowth. By reducing the P38/Limk1/Cofilin signaling pathway, Pgk1-Enolase-2 interaction enhances neuronal growth. This finding can aid in the screening of potential small molecule drugs for promoting motor nerve regeneration.

Summary: Minimally invasive oncologic surgery has become the standard of care for many gynecologic cancers, providing benefits to patients but also presenting unique challenges, such as the rare complication of port-site metastasis. Further research is needed to study risk-reducing strategies and standardization of management for port-site metastasis.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed 18 cases of brain metastases from gynecologic primaries and summarized the relevant literature. The results showed that better performance status and smaller metastasis size were favorable prognostic factors. Brain metastases from endometrial cancer develop earlier than those from ovarian cancer.

Summary: This review focuses on the pivotal role of the blood-brain barrier in the development of brain metastases. It explores the structure and function of the blood-brain barrier, the concept of a pre-metastatic niche, the neurotropic mechanisms of circulating tumor cells, and the process of vessel co-option in brain metastases.

Summary: This study identifies the binding of SS2 Eno to RPSA on the surface of porcine brain microvascular endothelial cells, leading to activation of signaling pathways that promote intracellular expression of molecules associated with host-cell apoptosis and increased BBB permeability. The findings reveal novel functions for RPSA and HSPD1 in BBB integrity and provide insights for new therapeutic strategies in meningitis.

Summary: This study demonstrates the pro-metastatic role of desmocollin 2 (DSC2) in breast cancer. Increased DSC2 expression was found in HER2-positive and triple negative breast cancers, and was significantly associated with shorter disease-free and overall survival. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that DSC2 overexpression promoted tumor cell aggregation and chemoresistance, while DSC2 knock down reduced circulating tumor cells/clusters and brain metastatic lesions.

Summary: The genital system is a common site of cancer in women. Advances in treatment have improved survival rates, with eye metastasis being a rare but possible occurrence from gynecological cancers, leading to poor prognosis. Early detection and treatment are crucial for better outcomes in such cases.
