Summary: This study indicates that pretreatment PLR is an independent predictor of disease-specific survival (DSS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients, with a stronger predictive effect in male patients, stage III/IV patients, and patients with lymph node metastasis.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of TSR and TB in OTSCC and establish a predictive model for the outcome of OTSCC patients. The results indicated that TSR was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of OTSCC patients and patients with stroma-rich had a worse long-term prognosis. The risk model combining TSR and TB showed valuable predictive power for the outcome of OTSCC patients.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the epidemiological characteristics and specific survival of patients diagnosed with tongue squamous cell carcinoma at the National Cancer Institute. The results showed that the majority of patients were male, smokers, alcohol consumers, had low education, and were diagnosed at an advanced stage, with poor specific survival.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prognostic impact of lymphovascular and perineural invasions in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue who received surgery-based treatment. The presence of perineural and lymphovascular invasions were divided into four groups. The results showed that lymphovascular and perineural invasions were independent negative prognostic factors for squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue, with patients having significantly poorer overall survival compared to those without neurovascular involvement.

Summary: The association of immunexpression of cancer stem cell markers with clinicopathological and survival outcomes in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) patients was evaluated. Observational studies comparing the association of clinicopathological and survival outcomes with cancer stem cell immunexpression in TSCC patients were included in a systematic review and meta-analysis. The findings showed that positive immunexpression was significantly associated with advanced tumor staging and grading, lymph node metastasis, and increased mortality.

Summary: This study found that male patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma showed better overall survival and disease-free survival in early-stage tumors compared to female patients. Low hemoglobin levels were identified as an independent prognostic factor for women, especially in early-stage tumors. Sex was not a significant factor related to patients' prognosis in advanced-stage tumors (III-IV).

Summary: Tumor budding is found to be a reliable prognostic factor in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC), but a standardized scoring system is lacking. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic role of tumor budding in 211 OTSCC patients. The results confirm the predictive value of tumor budding in disease-specific survival.

Summary: Histopathologic parameters, such as tumor depth of invasion and lymphovascular invasion, serve as independent predictors of nodal metastases in surgically treated tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Positive margins predict poor recurrence-free survival and local recurrence-free survival. Margins' status was the only independent predictor of local recurrence, while tumor depth of invasion, nodal and margin status were key prognosticators of survival.

Summary: A prognostic nomogram was developed to predict the prognosis of patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Clinical information of patients between 2010 and 2015 was collected from the SEER Program, and a nomogram was created using RStudio software. The nomogram's predictive ability was evaluated and found to be highly accurate.

Summary: The study aimed to identify factors influencing quality of life and psychological stress in oral cancer patients from their perspective. Results showed that patients value their own personality and social support, and desire psycho-oncological assistance. It is important for healthcare providers to understand and address these factors to better support patients.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between the fitting accuracy of patient-specific implants made from polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and the incidence of postoperative complications. It found that while the fitting accuracy was generally high, there was still a considerable complication rate. The focus should be on exploring other risk factors to optimize surgical outcomes.

Summary: The effect of alloplastic and xenogeneic bone grafting materials on the growth rates and viability of human unrestricted somatic stem cells was investigated in vitro. The results showed that xenogeneic materials promoted the greatest proliferation and improved viability of the cells. Furthermore, the pore size and bioactive characteristics of the scaffolds influenced the proliferation and attachment of the stem cells.

Summary: The proper treatment of two-wall fractured orbits is still a controversial topic, particularly regarding the necessity of medial orbital wall repair. Emerging technologies such as patient-specific implants (PSI) offer reliable and anatomically correct reconstruction options. This study aimed to evaluate the outcome of full orbital reconstruction using PSIs compared to only orbital floor repair using PDS foils, and the results suggest that complex orbital fractures can be reconstructed more accurately with PSI.
