Summary: The hydration kinetics of a calcination activated bauxite tailings-lime-gypsum ternary system was studied, demonstrating that the kinetics equation could simulate the hydration process effectively with 5% gypsum. Increasing bauxite tailings content led to shorter induction and appearance times for second exothermic peaks, as well as an increase in the value of the second exothermic peak.

Summary: The study compared the performances of additives in shallow mixing and column techniques by simulating ground models in the laboratory, finding that lime achieved the best improvement for both techniques, while gypsum exhibited the lowest performance. Additionally, the shallow mixing technique showed higher performances than the column technique for lime, fly ash, and gypsum.

Summary: This paper presents the design and evaluation process of compatible materials to replace damaged interior walls and ceilings coatings made of gypsum-based plasters. Based on quantitative requirements and previous works with historic buildings, it was concluded that three different restoration materials need to be developed. The physical and mechanical properties of different gypsum and lime mixes were determined, showing the gypsum-lime binder proportions to be the most influential factor in material properties.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of externally available calcium sulfate on the expansion characteristics of concrete, finding that the expansion of blended cement is related to the concentration of gypsum in the exposure solution and the dosage of CSAB, with the stiffness of the matrix playing a role in the resultant expansion.

Summary: Grain production in Australia faces challenges due to unfavorable climatic and soil conditions. Deep tillage has shown significant yield responses, but the specific mechanisms are not yet clear. This study suggests that crops respond more to deep tillage than to nutrition interventions, and increased crop transpiration, ear density, and grain number contribute most to yield increases. Crop water use does not seem to be the main driver of yield responses to deep tillage, but rather the hormonal responses affecting crop tillering and development.

Summary: This study evaluated the use of recycled gypsum plaster (RG) in mixtures of lime and metakaolin. The results showed that the addition of RG improved the setting times, fluidity, and mechanical strengths of the mixtures, indicating the potential of using RG as a sustainable material for ternary binders.

Summary: The elemental composition of precursors is crucial for the performance development of geopolymers. The use of lime instead of metakaolin increases the fluidity and mechanical properties of geopolymers, while the addition of gypsum decreases them. Furthermore, higher lime content exacerbates the negative effect of gypsum.

Summary: The nonferrous metal smelting industry in China produces a large amount of arsenic-containing acidic wastewater, which hinders the industry's development. This study examined low-cost and effective methods for treating acidic wastewater. Lime neutralization and compound salt precipitation were used to remove arsenic from the wastewater, and the residues were treated harmlessly by H2SO4 leaching to recover As2O3. The results showed that the lime treatment process was cost-effective and produced non-hazardous solid waste.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of dolomitic lime and phosphogypsum applications on soil chemical attributes, plant nutrition, and grain yield in direct-seeded flooded rice. Liming alleviated topsoil acidity and increased soil pH, while phosphogypsum application increased nutrient availability throughout the soil profile. Overall, phosphogypsum application improved rice yield by 10-11% by increasing SO4-S availability in the soil profile.

Summary: This study characterizes the soil hydraulic properties of Alfisols and Vertisols and develops rainfall-runoff-soil loss relationships through long-term hydrological monitoring. The results show that the raised bed method is more effective than the flat bed method in reducing surface runoff and soil loss. In addition, Vertisols have higher water storage capacity, resulting in less runoff.

Summary: A green approach for the synthesis of gypsum and anhydrite from industrial wastes was proposed in this study. High-quality products can be obtained at room temperature, and the approach was found to be advantageous from technological, environmental, and economic perspectives. The filtrate generated during synthesis can be used as complex fertilizer.

Summary: The adoption of raised beds technology in Egypt can increase wheat yield, gross margins, reduce irrigation water application and seeding rate, increase water productivity, and reduce downside yield risk. However, it does not have a significant effect on soil salinity, fertilizer, and labor inputs.

Summary: Despite the extensive use of gypsum-lime plasters and renders worldwide, there is a lack of systematic studies on the effect of lime content on their properties. Our study found that even small lime additions reduced strength but compatible conservation materials can be designed. Lime additions also significantly improved weathering resistance, enabling wider use of gypsum-lime plasters as a more sustainable alternative to current building materials.

Summary: The article discusses the modification of gypsum stones to enhance their performance properties. By adding mineral additives, the physical and mechanical characteristics of the modified gypsum composition are improved. The use of aluminosilicate additives derived from ash and slag waste increases the compressive strength of the gypsum stone by over 100%. This environmentally-friendly alternative allows for the preservation of natural resources and the creation of comfortable living conditions.

Summary: The flotation behavior and surface properties of chalcopyrite after treatment with sodium metabisulfite (SMBS) in the presence of calcium ions were investigated. The results showed that both SMBS treatment and the addition of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)(2)) had a depressing effect on the floatability of chalcopyrite, which was reduced in the presence of potassium amyl xanthate (PAX). However, the combination of SMBS treatment and Ca(OH)(2) resulted in a significant decrease in the recovery of chalcopyrite.
