Summary: In this study, LINE-1 sequences were found to be enriched around centromeres and co-localized with heterochromatin C-positive bands in the chromosomes of two platyrrhine species. This distribution suggests a potential role of LINE-1 sequences in centromere architecture and karyotype organization in these primates.

Summary: Exploring the genetic diversity among plant accessions is crucial for plant genetic resource conservation and management. This study evaluated the performance and genetic diversity of 46 tomato accessions in Jordan, revealing a wide range of variations. The analysis of molecular markers identified SSR primers associated with specific genes. These findings provide valuable information for plant breeding programs and future molecular analysis.

Summary: Primate colour vision is influenced by a combination of factors, including photoreceptors, neural structures, and genetic makeup. Differences in opsin genes between New World and Old World primates may result in trichromacy in females and dichromacy in males. The howler monkey genus Alouatta shows potential for male trichromacy, which requires further genetic and behavioral analysis for confirmation.

Summary: This study identified significant variation in early maturity wheat genotypes and detected specific markers associated with early maturity. The early maturing sub-population showed higher gene diversity compared to the late maturing sub-population. The findings of this study will be valuable for future wheat improvement programs aimed at developing early maturing wheat varieties.

Summary: This study successfully developed 17 microsatellite markers using Illumina whole genome sequencing and conducted preliminary genetic diversity analysis. The availability of these markers will contribute to the study of genetic diversity and structure of Dalmatian pyrethrum populations, as well as the identification of breeding lines and cultivars.

Summary: The use of deep learning algorithms to assess suicide risk based on Reddit data shows potential in improving suicide risk assessment, particularly when integrated with clinical diagnostic interviews for greater accuracy. The time-variant approach outperforms the time-invariant method in assessing suicide-related ideations and behaviors, while the time-invariant model performs better in predicting suicide-related behaviors and attempts.

Summary: The Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) is considered the gold standard for collecting information on suicidal ideation and behavior. A study compared the accuracy of the C-SSRS and the Beck Scale for Suicidal Ideation (BSS) in collecting suicide attempt history in individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Both scales demonstrated high accuracy in reporting suicide attempts, with no significant differences. Future researchers can choose the scale that best suits their needs.

Summary: A study found that yawning and scratching contagion exists in a wild group of Geoffroy's spider monkeys. Individuals who observed others yawning or scratching were more likely to exhibit the behavior themselves. This finding is important for understanding the origins of behavioral contagion in primates.

Summary: Microsatellites, also known as simple sequence repeats, are repetitive tracts in a DNA sequence that play key roles in species identification and phylogeny. The pSATdb database has been developed to provide comprehensive information on length variation of mitochondrial microsatellites across different genera. The identified microsatellites stored in pSATdb will be useful in various genomics studies.

Summary: This study found that black-handed spider monkeys consume ethanol through the fruits of Spondias mombin on Barna Colorado Island, Panama. The ethanol content in partially consumed fruits that were dropped by monkeys was typically in the range of 1-2%. Urine samples from the monkeys tested positive for ethanol metabolites.

Summary: The complete chloroplast genome of Ulmus mianzhuensis was sequenced and compared with other Ulmus species, revealing a highly conserved gene structure. It was also found that U. mianzhuensis should be considered as a subspecies of U. parvifolia. This study highlights the valuable information provided by the chloroplast genome in genetic variation and phylogenetic analysis of Ulmus species.

Summary: This study investigated the diversity of the pygmy marmoset by comparing genetic, morphological, and pelage traits. Two distinct clades and geographic boundaries within one of those clades were identified. Cranial measurements were found to predict an individual's mtDNA clade, while pelage patterns varied within and among populations.

Summary: The intensity of sperm competition varies among species with different mating systems. This study compared sperm morphological traits between two sister howler monkey species with different mating systems to investigate the effect of sperm competition. It found significant differences in sperm morphology, providing empirical evidence of sexual selection on these traits in closely related primate species.
