Copper oxide (CuO) nanorods were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal process, which exhibit excellent catalytic oxidation of cyclohexene to 2-cyclohexene-1-one by tert-butyl hydrogen peroxide (TBHP) in acetonitrile. This would provide a novel method for directly synthesizing alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones from olefins.
