Summary: Past research has shown that intimate partner violence (IPV) is associated with less adequate access to prenatal care. This study examines the association between physical IPV during and before pregnancy and the adequacy of prenatal care, as well as the barriers to prenatal care. The findings indicate that women with IPV exposure, especially those who experience IPV before and during pregnancy, are more likely to experience inadequate prenatal care and face various barriers to accessing care.

Summary: This study examines the barriers, facilitators, and motivators for the internationalization of students. The findings suggest that the barriers to internationalization are both intrinsic and extrinsic, while networking training and access to student resources serve as the main facilitators, and personal development and career opportunities are the main motivators.

Summary: This study found that only a small percentage of pregnant women in a Dutch community sample received treatment for symptoms of anxiety and/or depression, with the main reason for not engaging in treatment being the perception of these symptoms as a natural part of pregnancy. Referral by midwives was identified as the main facilitator for treatment uptake.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the needs and experiences of Female Sex Workers (FSWs) regarding reproductive and sexual health services. The findings revealed that contraception is a greater motivation for condom use among FSWs than HIV prevention. Therefore, there is a need to reallocate public health resources and design policies to meet the reproductive and sexual health needs of FSWs, especially in preventing unintended pregnancies.

Summary: This study examined the motivations, facilitators, and barriers for private practice physicians to volunteer as clinical faculty in a dermatology residency program. The findings showed that most physicians were motivated by the opportunity to help others, serve the field of dermatology, and enjoy teaching. In contrast, extrinsic rewards such as career advancement and increased income were not as important. Traditional lectures and impromptu teaching sessions were the most utilized teaching modalities. Limited time for travel and teaching, as well as credentialing, were identified as significant barriers, while promoting schedule flexibility, increasing teaching supplies, and streamlining credentialing were proposed as facilitators.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate perinatal outcomes and barriers to prenatal care among pregnant women, finding that women without prenatal care had significantly higher risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes. These women resided in areas with higher dependence on public transportation, indicating a need for alternative resources to reduce barriers to prenatal care access.

Summary: This study aims to identify individual and contextual barriers and facilitators of accessing mental health services prior to a verdict of Not Criminally Responsible on account of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD). The findings highlight the importance of geographical considerations in determining access to specialized mental health care. People living outside of major urban centres were more likely to seek and receive psychiatric care. Furthermore, living with family decreased the likelihood of seeking mental healthcare.

Summary: The prenatal environment has a significant impact on fetal development and long-term health. Poor maternal health and various diseases during pregnancy can lead to cognitive, metabolic, and cardiovascular disorders in children and adults. Improving access to comprehensive antenatal care globally is necessary to protect the health and safety of women and children.

Summary: Nutrition during pregnancy has lifelong impacts on the health of mother and child, presenting unique challenges to healthy cooking and eating. Motivators for healthy cooking during pregnancy include feeding other children, avoiding pregnancy complications, promoting fetal growth, and avoiding foodborne illness. Challenges include pregnancy symptoms, navigating nutrition recommendations, mental energy of meal planning, family preferences, and time constraints. Strategies employed include meal planning and including a variety of foods, with important components of a cooking intervention during pregnancy identified as organizational strategies, recipes, nutrition information, and peer support.

Summary: Although Ethiopia has made significant progress in reducing maternal morbidity and mortality, the incomplete utilization of maternal continuum of care is still an issue. This study found significant spatial variation in the incomplete utilization of maternal continuum of care in Ethiopia. Factors such as residence, wealth index, education, religion, barriers to healthcare access, mass media exposure, and current employment were significantly associated with incomplete utilization of maternal continuum of care.

Summary: This study reviewed the use of telemedicine among older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia or mild cognitive impairment, finding that telemedicine is well received among patients and care partners, with support staff and care partners playing a crucial role in technology navigation. However, excluding older adults with sensory impairments may further exacerbate access to care in this population.
