Summary: Cross reactivity with macroprolactin, high molecular weight complexes of prolactin, is a common cause of false elevation in serum prolactin assays. It can lead to clinical confusion and unnecessary investigations. Laboratory screening for macroprolactinemia in all cases of hyperprolactinemia is recommended.

Summary: Parasitic worms cause significant diseases in animals and humans globally, highlighting the importance of controlling them for health and productivity. A high throughput screening assay was established to identify potential inhibitors against specific larvae, potentially leading to the discovery of more effective anthelmintic drugs. This advancement in screening methods could play a key role in developing better treatments for parasitic nematodes to combat drug resistance.

Summary: Palladium-catalyzed reactions are widely used in organic synthesis, but residual metal impurities, such as palladium, may remain in the reaction products. This study quantifies for the first time the levels of residual palladium in purified reaction products and provides simple guidelines to minimize the potential risks associated with residual palladium.

Summary: This article provides an account of the small-molecule ligands of ficatenin, a multifunctional protein involved in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. In silico analysis reveals that most of these molecules possess promiscuous chemical substructures that interfere with screening assays. Biophysical techniques confirm that none of the examined small molecules bind at the surface of ficatenin. This study calls into question their reported mode of action, but also reaffirms ficatenin as a prominent target in drug discovery.

Summary: This study focuses on small-molecule ligands of β-catenin as therapeutic targets in the Wnt signaling pathway. Through computational analysis and biophysical techniques, it is shown that these small molecules do not bind to the surface of β-catenin. This raises doubts about their reported mode of action and reaffirms the significance of β-catenin in drug discovery.
