Summary: The study evaluated the ability of CT-determined resectability to predict R0 resection in patients with PDAC after neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy, finding a relatively low sensitivity and specificity. Low-contrast enhancement of soft tissue contacting artery may enhance the ability of CT to predict R0 resection.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and pattern of recurrence in patients with initially resectable and borderline resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma who received post-neoadjuvant pancreatectomy. The results showed that preoperative tumor size <20 mm, normal posttreatment CA19.9 and Delta CA19.9 > 50% were associated with longer recurrence-free survival (RFS) in these patients.

Summary: The use of chemotherapy followed by chemoradiotherapy prior to surgery for patients with pancreatic cancer in contact with major abdominal blood vessels improves the ability to completely resect the tumor, leading to increased patient survival after surgery.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of multiagent perioperative therapy on overall survival in potentially resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) patients. The results showed a promising survival of 58 months for patients who underwent surgical resection, which may represent another treatment option for PDA.

Summary: Analysis of data from patients with borderline resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma showed that non-White patients were less likely to undergo pancreatic resection compared to White patients. This racial disparity was attributed to variation in care within hospitals, but disappeared if non-White patients received neoadjuvant therapy.

Summary: This study found that nab-paclitaxel chemoradiotherapy (CRT) had similar toxicity compared with standard CRT in treating pancreatic cancer. Although the nab-paclitaxel CRT group experienced a slightly lower incidence of local failure and a slightly higher conversion to resectability, both were not statistically significant.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical implications of DUPAN-II as a biological indicator for pancreatic cancer during preoperative chemoradiation therapy. The normalization of DUPAN-II levels after CRT was found to be a significant prognostic factor and could predict treatment efficacy and patient prognosis.

Summary: The benefit of preoperative treatment followed by pancreatic resection in older patients with PDAC remains unclear. This study showed that preoperative treatment followed by curative resection could be safely performed in older patients, with similar outcomes as younger patients. Although older patients had a higher frequency of postoperative complications, the prognosis was similar.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical outcomes of BRPC patients treated with chemotherapy and SBRT. The results showed that patients who underwent surgical resection had improved survival, and vascular margin status and chemotherapy type did not affect survival, but a specific neoadjuvant chemotherapy type showed improvement in unresected patients.

Summary: A diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is associated with a low 5-year survival rate of less than 10%. Detecting pancreatic cancer is challenging due to its retroperitoneal location and lack of symptoms until advanced stages. Current imaging techniques have limited accuracy in determining vascular involvement, but new fluorescence and optoacoustic imaging techniques may provide more accurate staging and individualized treatment plans.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of CAPE-based vs. GEM-based neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for (B)RPC patients. The results showed that patients treated with CAPE had higher odds of achieving surgical resection, longer median time to progression, and better overall survival compared to those treated with GEM.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using NGS approach for comprehensive molecular profiling of PDAC patients, regardless of their surgical eligibility. The mutational profiles detected in cytologic samples showed high concordance with the corresponding histologic specimens obtained after surgery, and actionable mutations were identified in a significant proportion of patients.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the literature on chyle leak after pancreatectomy and proposed a management algorithm based on the available evidence. The results showed that the extent of surgery is the most common predictor of risk, and conservative treatment has been shown to be effective in most cases.

Summary: A rigorous approach is required for non-invasive characterization of adrenal lesions. While CT is the main method for adrenal lesion characterization, a multimodality multiparametric imaging method can improve confidence in diagnosis. The role of imaging is usually clear for adrenal lesions associated with hormonal secretion, but it may be challenging to characterize non-functioning adrenal lesions. Atypical lesions may be difficult to diagnose even with typical imaging features.

Summary: This paper reviewed the clinical course of 40 patients with SPN from three Brazilian institutions between 2005 and 2020, and analyzed their clinicopathological, genetic, and surgical aspects. Most patients were women, with unspecified symptoms at diagnosis, and the tumors were mainly located in the body and tail of the pancreas. The majority of patients underwent a distal pancreatectomy with sparing splenectomy, and no recurrence has been observed to date.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study evaluated the overall survival (OS), RAS, BRAF, and MSI frequencies in refractory mCRC patients treated with cetuximab. The study identified BRAF V600E, KRAS, and NRAS gene mutations, as well as MSI status, in pre-treated patients. The study found that BRAF, NRAS mutations, and MSI-High status were associated with shorter OS, while tumour laterality remained an independent prognostic factor.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association of red cell blood counts and liver panel tests with outcomes in patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors who underwent systemic antineoplastic treatments. Laboratory tests were conducted, and the results showed that chromogranin A, neutrophils, and platelets-to-lymphocyte ratio were associated with disease progression.
