Summary: Research on oxidative damage to DNA has implications for understanding the pathogenesis of various diseases, with increasing interest in the effects of damage to RNA and nucleotide pools. LCMS/MS and comet assays are important methods for assessing oxidative stress, but have limitations in sample requirements and application scope. Urine is an ideal matrix for studying nucleic acid-derived biomarkers of oxidative stress, with progress being made in validating measurements, particularly through DNA adductomics approaches that offer insights into the role of oxidatively damaged nucleic acids in disease.

Summary: Additive Manufacturing (AM) through robotic systems and direct energy deposition techniques provides a new way of production for large-scale parts, allowing for flexible sizing from sub-metre to multi-metre. The technology not only eliminates geometric constraints but also significantly reduces lead time for parts delivery. The research covers various aspects from materials, microstructures to robotic build platforms and post-processing steps.

Summary: The study suggests that the probability of identical summary statistics in different RCTs or clinical cohorts is low, unless the variables are rounded to 1 significant figure. Furthermore, the high proportion of identical summary statistics in clinical cohorts with publication integrity concerns is improbable based on simulations and comparisons to control datasets.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic disease affecting up to 38% of the general population, with various risk factors such as genetic predisposition and high-calorie diets. Liver biopsy, the traditional method for NAFLD diagnosis, has limitations due to potential complications and sampling variability. Non-invasive assessment methods using serum biomarkers and liver stiffness quantification have emerged as a new frontier in NAFLD management. This article provides a state-of-the-art summary on ultrasound-based techniques and their optimal cut-off values for staging liver fibrosis in NAFLD patients.

Summary: The peritoneal cavity is a common site of metastasis from colorectal cancer, and patients often have aggressive tumor biology and poor prognosis. Cytoreductive surgery-hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy is the only effective treatment for suitable patients. The benefit of this treatment is controversial, and current strategies to prevent metastasis in high-risk individuals have been shown to be ineffective.

Summary: Improvements in severe hemorrhage mortality outcomes have been stagnant, with current prehospital interventions not showing significant progress. The success seen in military settings, such as the use of tourniquets, may hold promise for civilian applications. Newly proposed prehospital strategies, such as whole blood transfusion and Zone 1 Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta, show potential but their implementation in civilian populations, particularly in the US, remains to be seen.

Summary: Many randomized trials in cardiovascular disease focus on time-to-first event as the primary outcome, but repeat nonfatal events often occur during patient follow-up. This article explores the value of including repeat events in the analysis, compares different statistical methods for analyzing repeat events, and provides recommendations for future trials based on their performance in cardiovascular trials and heart failure trials.

Summary: Recent development in Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) provides a promising alternative for fabricating high value-added metal components in industries such as aerospace and maritime. However, the demand for complex and high-quality products poses challenges for the widespread adoption of conventional WAAM. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques may upgrade WAAM to the next generation. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research on AI in WAAM, including the concept of intelligent WAAM, application of AI techniques, and future perspectives.

Summary: Consensus on best practices for selecting, reporting, and interpreting primary and secondary outcomes of randomized controlled trials is lacking. A review of cardiovascular RCT publications in top medical journals in 2019 found various approaches to analyzing, presenting, and interpreting efficacy outcomes, with a common practice of not correcting for multiple testing when reporting secondary outcomes. The study also highlighted the reliance on P < 0.05 for positive claims of treatment efficacy in trial reports.

Summary: This case report presents the use of periosteal dry needling (PDN) to treat chronic neck pain and headache in an 85-year-old female patient. The application of PDN to the cervical articular pillars (CAPs), following trigger point dry needling (TrPDN) and manual therapy, led to significant improvement in pain and function.
