Summary: Diabetes is a life-long disease that damages the body's microvasculature and macrovasculature, affecting metabolic and molecular pathways. External factors such as environmental factors, lifestyle, and pollutants can also regulate gene expression and contribute to disease development. Epigenetic modifications play a crucial role in the development of diabetes and its complications.

Summary: Increasing evidence shows that chronic, low-grade inflammation plays a significant role in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Defective efferocytosis, the process of clearing apoptotic cells, leads to the accumulation of apoptotic cells and persistent inflammation, which are closely linked to pancreatic islet β cell damage, adipose tissue inflammation, skeletal muscle dysfunction, and liver metabolism abnormalities. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of efferocytosis in glucose homeostasis, T2DM, and its complications is crucial for identifying therapeutic targets.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the safety and feasibility of initiating urgent-start peritoneal dialysis with a break-in period of 24 hours or less for patients with end-stage renal disease and diabetes. The results showed that there were comparable rates of infectious and mechanical complications within 6 months after catheter insertion between the group with break-in period <= 24 hours and the group with break-in period >24 hours, and there were no significant differences in technique survival rates between the two groups.

Summary: Diabetes is a major global health issue, increasing the risk of infections and cardiovascular diseases. Plant-based foods contain bioactive compounds that can regulate insulin metabolism and cholesterol. Plant sterols can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress damage, offering therapeutic benefits against diabetes with no side effects.

Summary: The gut microbiota plays a significant role in the metabolism and disease status of the host, particularly in conditions like Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) where dysbiosis can act as a risk factor. Research points to the causal relationship between microbiota and T2D through methods like fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) or probiotic supplementation, highlighting the potential role of microbial metabolites in this interaction. Future therapeutic approaches for T2D may involve interventions such as FMT, prebiotics, and probiotics supplementation.

Summary: With the implementation of zero-waste city and waste classification in China, there is an urgent need for advanced food waste treatment technology. Anaerobic digestion (AD) technology has attracted much attention in China due to its advantages including clean energy production, low carbon emissions, and suitability for large-scale treatment. Chinese policies are conducive to the development and promotion of AD technology for food waste treatment.
