Summary: Complex metal hydrides have high hydrogen storage capacities but are limited by high temperatures for hydrogen release and slow kinetics for hydrogen uptake. This study investigates the vapor-phase delivery of chemical additives to modify Mg(BH4)2 materials, enabling low-temperature hydrogen release. The combination of characterization techniques, especially electron microscopy, provides insight into the mechanism and accelerates research in hydrogen storage materials.

Summary: In this study, a simple strategy was demonstrated for constructing low-tortuosity through-pores in both vertical and planar directions of electrodes by casting large particles into single-particle-layer electrodes. Through multi-scale characterizations and simulations, correlations between material/electrode structures, electrolyte permeability, polysulfide migration, and sulfur reactions were elucidated. The high-loading and dense sulfur cathode fabricated by this method delivers a high specific capacity at a very low electrolyte/sulfur ratio.

Summary: In this study, a diglyme solution of Na[cyclo-P-5] was reacted with alkynes and isolobal nitriles and phosphaalkynes to obtain (aza)phospholide anions 2 a-c, 4 a,b, and 6. The coordination of these anions with Fe-II resulted in the formation of (aza)phosphametallocenes 3 a-c, 5 a,b and 7. The new compounds were characterized using various spectroscopy and crystallography techniques.

Summary: This study presents the first highly selective kinetic resolution of racemic alpha-chiral azides through Cu-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). Newly developed pyridine-bisoxazoline (PYBOX) ligands bearing a C4 sulfonyl group enabled effective kinetic resolution and asymmetric CuAAC of racemic azides derived from privileged scaffolds such as indanone, cyclopentenone, and oxindole, leading to alpha-tertiary 1,2,3-triazoles with high to excellent ee values. DFT calculations and control experiments revealed that the C4 sulfonyl group decreased the Lewis basicity of the ligand and increased the electrophilicity of the copper center for better recognition of azides, while also functioning as a shielding group to enhance the efficacy of the chiral pocket of the catalyst.

Summary: The presented overview discusses the luminescence properties of lanthanide ions in various dielectric crystalline materials for photonics and optoelectronics. Different crystals with distinct crystal structures were chosen, and the behavior of erbium ions was studied and compared. Theoretical simulations were also conducted to better understand the incorporation of erbium in these crystals.

Summary: The static structure of (Li2S)(x)(GeS2)(100-x) glasses was studied using diffraction measurements and simulation techniques. It was found that the Ge-S network in the glasses is formed by GeS4 tetrahedra linkages. The number of edge-sharing GeS4 tetrahedra decreases with Li2S content, but the ratio to the number of connections remains constant regardless of the composition. Molecular dynamics simulation was used to determine the positions of Li ions in the Ge-S network, showing that each Li ion occupies a deformed octahedral site.

Summary: Atherosclerosis is a complex disease, with unique plaque morphology in each individual. Currently, there is a lack of technique to differentiate stable and unstable plaques and identify those at risk of thromboembolic events. Small-and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/ WAXS) has the potential to identify key materials in plaques, such as cholesterol species, collagen, LDLs, and hydroxyapatite. Protocols for preparing excised human atherosclerotic tissue have been established, leading to improved sample-to-noise ratio and background subtraction.

Summary: The disproportionation reactions of chlorosilane compounds in the presence of boron trichloride result in the formation of the compound H[B(SiCl3)(4)]. Spectroscopic analyses and crystal structure analysis confirm the highly symmetric borate anion coordinated with silicon, as well as the presence of polar Si-Cl and Si-B bonds. Stabilized highly reactive compounds containing trichlorosilyl groups have been prepared in recent years, with the superacid H[B(SiCl3)(4)] representing a new member in this compound family.

Summary: Linear alpha,omega-diphosphaoligosilanes were synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. Single crystal structure analyses revealed that these silanes adopt all-transoid conformations in the solid state, with elongated silicon-silicon and silicon-phosphorus bonds. This can be attributed to the bulky phenyl and iso-propyl substituents, as well as effective sigma conjugation along the main chains.

Summary: A series of silylated 2-aminopyrimidines were synthesized from chlorosilanes and 2-aminopyrimidine using triethylamine as a sacrificial base. The molecular structures of these compounds were determined using various spectroscopic techniques and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The presence of intramolecular van der Waals contacts and intermolecular hydrogen bonds contributes to the solid-state structures of these compounds.

Summary: Novel hybrid materials with Si-O-C bridges were obtained through condensation reactions of chlorosilanes (SiCl4 and CH3SiCl3) and bis(trimethylsilyl)ethers of rigid, quasi-linear diols (CH3)3SiO-AR-OSi(CH3)3 (AR = 4,4'-biphenylene and 2,6-naphthylene). Pyridine-catalyzed reactions led to soluble oligomers, while pyridine-catalyzed reactions with SiCl4 resulted in a Sol-Gel transition and the formation of xerogels. The xerogels exhibited low BET surface area and consisted of hydrolytically sensitive three-dimensional networks of SiO4-units linked by the arylene groups.

Summary: This paper presents a convenient method for the synthesis of mixtures of asymmetrical s-triazine phosphonates, which can be used to adjust the thermal behavior and viscosity of the compounds. The synthesis is based on the Michaelis-Arbuzov reaction, and complete conversion of reactants to target compounds is achieved. The results are verified through detailed NMR and elemental analysis, and the thermal behavior is compared using TGA.
