Summary: Metal closo-borates and their derivatives are promising in various applications due to their stability and researchers have reported the synthesis and structural analysis of alpha- and beta-CaB10H10. The distinctions between the two polymorphs lie in crystal system, topology, and coordination tetrahedron displacement. Additionally, the hydrates exhibit structural diversity with ordered and disordered structures, revealing complex networks of hydrogen interactions.

Summary: The study investigated the complexation of zinc(II) and cadmium(II) with the dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate anion in the presence of azaheterocyclic ligands, revealing significant influence of process parameters on the resulting compounds' composition and structure. The synthesis of mixed-ligand complexes using complex [Cd(DMF)(6)][B12H12] as a precursor was demonstrated, with the characterization of a novel binuclear cadmium(II) complex involving the coordinated dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate anion through a multicenter M-H(B) bond.

Summary: Efficient modification of the interface between metal cathode and electron transport layer using alcohol-soluble rhodamine-functionalized dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate derivate RBH improves the performance and stability of inverted perovskite solar cells. RBH acts as an efficient cathode interlayer that overcomes the issues at the PCBM/Ag interface, resulting in a high power conversion efficiency of 21.08% and a high fill factor of 83.37%.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of substituents on the photophysical properties of derivatives of [closo-B10H10](2-), revealing the significant impact of the B(10) substituent on the HOMO and the C(4) substituent on the LUMO, allowing for variation of charge transfer band energy and emission energy. Additionally, solvent effects on the photophysical properties were observed, showing a substantial degree of control over these properties through a combination of substituent and solvent effects.

Summary: Efficient development of new solid-state electrolytes based on closo-boraces relies on a thorough understanding of their crystal structures and trends. Crystal structures of anhydrous decahydro-closo-decaborates of divalent cations (Sr2+ and Mn2+) were presented, expanding the library of available closo-borate compounds. The structures of the compounds are dissimilar, with distorted bcc- or helical anion sublattice, as well as different coordination environments for the cations. Additionally, crystal structures of hydrates were solved, and the hydrogen bond network was investigated, providing insights for designing new materials with high ionic conductivity.

Summary: The synthesis of acetonitrilium and propionitrilium derivatives of closo-dodecaborate [B12H12](2-) was discussed. Nucleophilic addition reactions of water, alcohols, and secondary amines to the activated triple bond of the nitrilium derivatives yielded corresponding iminols, imidates, and amidines. The obtained results were supported by X-ray diffraction studies and DFT calculations.

Summary: This research presents a simple and effective method for preparing silver closo dodecaborate (Ag2B12H12) films using an electrochemical route. The size of the Ag2B12H12 particles in the films can be controlled by adjusting the electrochemical parameters. Ag nanoclusters with controllable sizes can be generated by electrochemical reduction reactions or thermal anneal. These Ag nanoparticles show promising performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in an acidic solution. This study provides new insights into the synthesis of [B12H12](2-) based thin films, the generation of metal nano-powders, and their application in HER or other applications.

Summary: The encapsulation of icosahedral closo-dicarbadodecaborane (o-, m-, and p-carboranes) as guest molecules in the three isostructural tetrahedral cages [{Pd3(NiPr3)PO}4(Cl-AN)6] (1), [{Pd3(NiPr)3PO}4(Br-AN)6] (2), and [{Pd3(NiPr)3PO}4(H-AN)6] (3) was investigated. The formation of definite host-guest assemblies was confirmed by mass spectrometry, IR, and NMR spectroscopy. Diffusion coefficient measurements and hydrodynamic radius calculations suggested that the carborane isomers were encapsulated inside the cage assemblies. Energy optimization studies indicated that o-Cb was preferentially bound as a guest inside the cages. The stabilization of the carborane guests was attributed to various nonclassical C-HmiddotmiddotmiddotX-type interactions.

Summary: This study investigates the dissociation of binary and multicomponent structure II hydrates by using a combination of in situ and ex situ Raman spectroscopic measurements and molecular dynamics simulations. The study focuses on the gas release behavior due to the destabilization of hydrate cavities induced by thermal stimulation. The results show that the dissolution process involves the decomposition, reformation, and continuing decomposition of the hydrate crystals until they disappear. The study also reveals differences in the release rate and composition change of different gas molecules during the dissociation process.
