Summary: The study assessed the genetic diversity of oat varieties in Central Europe using ISSR and SCoT marker systems, finding high genetic similarity among analyzed cultivars but distinct breeding programs in Central European countries. This suggests the need to expand the genetic pool of oat varieties.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic diversity of 124 rutabaga accessions from five Nordic countries using a 15K SNP Brassica array. The results showed that accessions from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark were genetically similar, while those from Iceland were significantly different. Icelandic rutabaga accessions were found to offer valuable germplasm for crop improvement.

Summary: In this study, molecular characterization of four buckwheat species was conducted using ISSR markers, revealing a significant genetic diversity within F. esculentum, F. sagittatum, and F. kashmirianum accessions at the intra-specific level, while F. tataricum showed lower genetic diversity. Analysis based on genetic distance and diversity indices indicated a clear phylogenetic relationship between the different accessions, with significant genetic differentiation observed among the different species.

Summary: The study estimated the genetic diversity among 33 common bean genotypes using 10 RAPD and 10 SCoT markers. Both marker systems showed high levels of polymorphism, supported by high polymorphic information content (PIC) values. The efficiency of the markers was compared using the Diversity Detection Index (DDI) and Marker Index (MI), with SCoT markers showing higher values and greater efficiency in detecting molecular variability. The results confirm the separation of the bean genotypes and suggest the potential use of genetically distant material for breeding purposes.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of producing dysphagic products using 3D printing with different gum additions, showing that XG and KG incorporation significantly increased mechanical strength while AG addition decreased it. XG and 0.3% KG samples were categorized as dysphagia diets within the IDDSI framework, while AG addition led to samples that could not be classified as dysphagia diets.

Summary: This article reviews the therapeutic potential of shiitake mushrooms, highlighting their nutraceutical properties and their potential to prevent and treat diseases. They possess antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer, anti-obesity, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and other beneficial effects. However, further research is needed, as studies have shown varying results due to factors such as mushroom strain, growth conditions, substrate, extraction method, and temperature. Clinical studies on humans are also lacking.

Summary: This study developed a wireless visual sensor system based on deep learning for shiitake mushroom sorting. Visual detection was achieved through image collection and cooperative transmission, and the model training used a Vision Transformer. The results showed that the system could efficiently and accurately complete the sorting of shiitake mushrooms, and it could be extended to other sorting tasks based on visual features.

Summary: Meiotic crossover in Lentinula edodes plays a significant role in generating genetic variations, with a large number of intragenic crossovers identified in this study. The majority of crossovers are clustered into hotspots, with a 10 bp motif enriched in these regions. QTL mapping identified several crossover-QTLs, contributing to the nonuniformity of crossover along chromosomes.

Summary: In this study, the induction mechanism of citric acid in lenthionine synthesis was explored, providing a reference for the effective application of citric acid as an inducer. The optimal citric acid concentration and treatment duration for Lentinula edodes were determined to be 300 μM and 15 days, respectively. The response surface method (RSM) was used to obtain the optimal design conditions, which resulted in a treatment concentration of 406 μM/L, a treatment duration of 15.6 days, and a lenthionine content of 130 μg/g.

Summary: The effect of an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying system on the drying kinetics, microstructure, and nutritional composition of shiitake mushrooms was investigated. Results showed that the EHD treatment had a significant impact on the drying rate, moisture diffusion coefficient, and shrinkage of the mushrooms. The highest drying rate and diffusion coefficient were observed in the 34 kV treatment group. SEM analysis revealed encrustation on the surface of EHD-dried samples, which increased with higher voltage. FTIR spectroscopy showed higher absorption peak intensity in the EHD-dried samples compared to the control group. Additionally, EHD-dried mushrooms had higher protein and polysaccharide contents. The study provides a basis for further understanding the drying kinetics of shiitake mushrooms and offers guidance for the application of EHD drying technology.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the rehydration quality of dried shiitake mushrooms through investigating serial combined drying methods. The findings showed that DIC treatment before hot air drying at 35 degrees C was the most promising combined drying method to enhance rehydration quality, attributed to the retention of pore interconnectivity and cell membrane integrity.

Summary: The study proposes a comprehensive method to solve the problem of dried shiitake mushroom grade recognition, including image acquisition, preprocessing, dataset creation, and grade recognition. The osprey optimization algorithm is used to improve the efficiency of threshold binarization, and a method based on the improved VGG network is proposed. The improved network model can accurately and efficiently recognize different grades of dried shiitake mushrooms.

Summary: Agglomerative hierarchical clustering is a common tool for data analysis and visualization, but the nonuniqueness of clustering solutions when distances are tied is a critical problem. This study shows that about 46% of publications in the Scopus database are affected by this issue, with some articles having multiple possible hierarchical clusterings.
