Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of factors such as estrogen dose and migraine history on ischemic stroke risks associated with using combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC). The use of CHC has been restricted in individuals with migraine with aura due to concerns about stroke risk.

Summary: In this study, 1444 female patients with migraine without aura (MWA) were divided into three groups (J1, J2, and J3) based on the association of MWA onset with menarche and childbirth. The J1 and J2 groups showed more typical migraine features compared to the J3 group, while the J3 group had higher rates of emotional and sleep disorders, weight management issues, frequent migraine attacks, and medication overuse. This study provides a basis for further understanding and treatment of MWA.

Summary: The study identified that patients with Migraine with Aura (MwA) experiencing acute cerebral ischemia were younger, exhibited shorter visual aura, and had a higher prevalence of cryptogenic ischemic stroke (CIS).

Summary: The association between migraine and vascular diseases, especially ischemic stroke and migraine with aura, is strong, particularly in young women, with oral contraceptive use and smoking. Although migraineurs have a higher prevalence of obesity and family history of cardiovascular diseases, there is a specific migraine-related pathophysiology at work, independent of traditional vascular risk factors.

Summary: This study analyzed clinical and laboratory data of patients with migraine with aura (MA) and ischemic stroke to identify differences that could aid in diagnosis. The results showed that MA cases were younger, more frequently females, and had lower levels of glucose, D-dimer, and fibrinogen. A multivariable model demonstrated an independent association between age, sex, initial NIHSS, fibrinogen levels, and ischemic stroke diagnosis. The model had good discrimination capability in differentiating between MA and ischemic stroke, with an AUC of 0.89.

Summary: In this study, the diagnostic gaps in the diagnosis of comorbid migraine without aura (MwoA) in patients with idiopathic/genetic epilepsy (I/GE) were disclosed using a zone concept. Longer headache duration, throbbing pain, increase of pain by physical activity, photophobia and/or phonophobia, presence of vertigo/dizziness, osmophobia, and higher VAS scores were found to be the main associated factors for the comorbid MwoA diagnosis in patients with I/GEs.

Summary: This study found a negative association between migraine and large artery atherosclerosis in young adults with ischemic stroke, regardless of the presence of aura. Patients with migraine typically had fewer traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

Summary: The study revealed that atrial fibrillation was a common cause of ischemic stroke in young adults with migraine with aura, and that traditional cardiovascular risk factors were less prevalent in these patients.

Summary: The study found that many stroke patients experience migraine-like symptoms at the onset of stroke, while many migraine patients with aura also have stroke-like symptoms. Although the overall frequencies of symptoms in the two groups are significantly different, additional history elements, physical findings, or results of ancillary investigations are required to clarify the differential diagnosis in individual patients.

Summary: The study reviewed the effectiveness of a progestogen-only pill containing norgestrel 75 μg/day in clinical use, showing high contraceptive efficacy under typical use conditions, with similar performance in breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding women. This supports the case for approval without the need for healthcare provider intervention.

Summary: This study explored the effect of daily use of a progestogen-only pill containing norgestrel 0.075 mg for 28 days on ovarian activity and ovulation. The results showed that during the 28-day exposure, most women did not ovulate, indicating that ovulation inhibition and follicle growth disturbance play important roles in the mechanism of action of this progestogen-only pill.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the usefulness of the index vein in diagnosing migraine aura. The results showed that the index vein was more prevalent in migraine aura compared to ischemic stroke, epileptic seizure, and controls. The index vein had high specificity and positive predictive value for the diagnosis of migraine aura.

Summary: The study found significant selective genetic associations between certain genetic variants at specific loci and distinct migraine symptoms such as aura, nausea/vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Additionally, latent class analysis did not reveal globally robust migraine substructures based on diagnostic symptoms.
