Summary: The study showed that once-weekly semaglutide was more cost-effective than once-daily empagliflozin for type 2 diabetes patients in China, with higher quality adjusted life years and lower total costs. The appropriate annual cost range for semaglutide was found to be between $667.04 and $877.43, which was robust to uncertainty in sensitivity and scenario analyses.

Summary: This study conducted a cost-utility analysis of different long-acting injections in patients with schizophrenia in China. The results showed that both PP3M and PP1M are more cost-effective compared to ER in the Chinese healthcare system, and PP3M has notable cost-utility advantages over PP1M.

Summary: Screening and recruitment for T2D prevention programs conducted through pharmacies yielded significant cost savings and QALY gains at a national level, with targeting recruitment at men potentially maximizing savings. Sensitivity analyses revealed that initial costs and changes in intervention effectiveness had the largest impact on results.

Summary: This study compared the long-term cost-effectiveness of semaglutide and dulaglutide and investigated the possibility of a further price reduction for semaglutide. The results showed that semaglutide was a better option compared to dulaglutide and there was still room to reduce its cost further.

Summary: The study evaluated the pharmacoeconomic value of three once-weekly GLP-1 RAs in treating uncontrolled T2D patients and recommended suitable price reductions for non-cost-effective medications. It found DULA to be the most cost-effective option among the three drugs evaluated, and suggested specific cost reductions for SEMA and e-r EXEN to make them as cost-effective as DULA.

Summary: A study in Denmark from 1997 to 2017 found that the incidence rates of fractures were higher in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes compared to those without diabetes, except for foot fractures. The incidence of hip fractures decreased by 35.2%, 47.0%, and 23.4% in patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and without diabetes, respectively, over the last 5 years. However, vertebral fractures increased by 14.8%, 18.5%, and 38.9% in the same groups. After age adjustment, patients with type 1 diabetes still had a higher risk of fractures compared to those without diabetes, while patients with type 2 diabetes had a risk similar to those without diabetes.

Summary: The study found that the self-efficacy-focused structured education program is more cost-effective than routine education for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in mainland China, as it can increase life expectancy and quality-adjusted life-years, lower cumulative incidences of complications, and save more direct medical costs. Sensitivity analysis showed a 100% probability of the program being cost-effective.

Summary: Diabetes is a highly heterogeneous metabolic disease with different types and clinical manifestations. Distinguishing between types and defining subtypes is a major challenge in precise treatment. T2D is the main type of diabetes, and certain gene variants have been shown to increase the risk of T2D. HNF1 alpha gene mutations can cause different types of diabetes and exhibit high polymorphism.

Summary: This study aimed to determine whether air pollutants modify the effects of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on the occurrence of diabetes mellitus (DM). The results showed that exposure to high levels of PM2.5 and O-3 increases the risk of DM, and GDM acts synergistically with PM2.5 exposure in DM development.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the long-term cost-effectiveness and return on investment of implementing a structured lifestyle intervention to reduce excessive gestational weight gain and associated incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that the intervention was cost-saving compared with usual care from a healthcare perspective, with a return on investment of AU$1.22 per dollar invested. These findings demonstrate significant cost savings and improved health outcomes for women during pregnancy and over their lifetime.

Increasing levels of cadmium exposure were associated with higher fasting blood glucose changes and incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Summary: Screening for pre-diabetes using CDRS in all adults was found to be the most cost-effective health policy. Medical institutions are recommended to replace FPG with CDRS for pre-diabetes screening, while self-screening for pre-diabetes using CDRS should be widely promoted among adults without an annual health examination. There are still some debates on how CDRS should be included in health examination projects, therefore strategy 2 should be considered as an alternative screening strategy.

Summary: The study used different methods to estimate the disutility of hypoglycemic events in diabetes, with results showing that the adjusted decrement estimator method may provide less biased estimates. The proposed new method offers a different perspective on the estimation of quality-adjusted life-years in economic evaluations of hypoglycemic treatments.

Summary: This study investigates the correlation between treatment effects, finding that a correlation between treatments may result in a reduced success rate for second treatment. Treatment correlations can be observed in clinical trials, and the magnitude of correlation can be estimated. Incorporating treatment correlations into economic models may have implications for cost-effectiveness results. Evaluating the correlation between treatment effects is of importance for clinical trial design and economic modeling.

Summary: This article evaluates bias in probabilistic analysis and deterministic analysis through three simulation studies. The results show that probabilistic analysis may be associated with greater biases in some cases compared to deterministic analysis. Point estimates may result in less bias when model parameters have wide confidence intervals.
