Summary: This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of hepatitis B markers in the 1-29 age group in Jiangsu Province, China. Results showed a decreased incidence of hepatitis B in the province from 2004 to 2014, with vaccinated individuals having significantly lower prevalence rates compared to unvaccinated subjects. The coverage and timeliness of HepB vaccination played a crucial role in reducing HBV infection.

Summary: Hepatitis E infections are common throughout Bangladesh, with a national seroprevalence of 20%. Seropositivity increases with age and male sex, and urban areas, including Dhaka, have significantly higher seroprevalence compared to other regions. Strengthening surveillance for hepatitis E, especially in urban areas, can help target interventions effectively.

Summary: Administering HBIG together with HepB can reduce immune responses to HepB in mice, regardless of injection site. This finding suggests that despite a compromised vaccine response, initial circulating levels of HBIG could still prevent infection.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the prevalence and associated risk factors of hepatitis among students and employees in Pakistan and implement measures to make IUB hepatitis free. The study found that hepatitis is more prevalent in men and is associated with sharing of needles and certain behavioral and medical factors.

Summary: This study evaluated the optimal timing of primary three-dose hepatitis B vaccination and postvaccination serologic testing (PVST) among a large group of healthy naive adults in the Netherlands. The results showed that PVST should be obtained 1-2 months after the last vaccination, and a delayed PVST was the main factor for lower seroprotection rates after the primary vaccination schedule. Furthermore, the hepatitis B vaccination allows flexibility for the second and third dose without restarting the vaccination series or confirmation of immune response.

Summary: The study found a substantial proportion of non-immune or partially immune children aged 5-17 years to diphtheria in India. The proportion of non-immune to diphtheria was lowest in the southern region and highest in the northeastern region. Additionally, the proportion of non-immune in urban areas was slightly higher than in rural areas.

Summary: This study examined the prevalence of hepatitis B and C infections in immigrants and refugees residing in central Brazil, and found that this group lacked access to prevention and control measures for hepatitis B. Public health strategies need to be developed to reach, inform, and vaccinate this population.

Summary: The results of a 2021 nationwide serosurvey in Georgia indicate a substantial reduction in hepatitis C virus infection among adults, from 5.4% to 1.8%, since the initiation of a national HCV elimination program in 2015. The prevalence of HCV RNA decreased significantly among individuals with risk factors of blood transfusion and injection drug use. No cases of HCV infection were found among children.

Summary: This systematic review examined the seroprevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in children and the rate of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) in the South East Asia Region and Western Pacific Region between 1990 and 2020. The study found a reduction in HBsAg seroprevalence in children after the introduction of infant hepatitis B virus vaccination programs, but the risk of MTCT persists, emphasizing the importance of antenatal screening.

Summary: Research shows that the decrease in hepatitis B vaccine coverage due to the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in chronic HBV infections and related deaths in the Western Pacific Region and African Region. Therefore, it is urgent to maintain immunization services, implement catch-up vaccinations, and mitigate disruptions in hepatitis B vaccinations in future birth cohorts.

Summary: This study compared the safety and immunogenicity of two HepB vaccine regimens in liver-transplanted children. The results showed that both the standard three-dose and double three-dose regimens had comparable immunogenicity and were safe for previously immunised liver-transplanted children.

Summary: This study investigated the immunogenicity of hepatitis B vaccination in pediatric patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The results showed a low seroprotection rate after the primary vaccination, but a higher seroconversion rate after booster doses. Lupus nephritis and a higher SLE Disease Activity Index-2000 score were associated with lower seroprotection. Hypocomplementemia was associated with low seroconversion rate after booster doses.
