Summary: Degarelix has similar effects to standard androgen suppression therapy in terms of overall survival and quality of life, but may lead to an increase in injection site pain. The effects on cardiovascular events remain uncertain due to limited and high-risk population studies, indicating a need for better-designed long-term studies.

Summary: Castrate resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) refers to the continued progression of prostate cancer in an environment with very low serum testosterone concentration. The current definition is outdated and needs to be updated with more accurate imaging modalities and biochemical measurements to assess clinical progression and the castration environment.

Summary: The study showed that lower baseline serum testosterone levels were significantly associated with worse survival endpoints in hormone naive advanced prostate cancer patients undergoing continuous medical castration. Further well-designed studies are needed to compare continuous androgen deprivation therapy with newer alternatives for optimizing individualized management in these patients.

Summary: Total testosterone levels gradually increase in men after recovery from COVID-19. However, nearly 30% of men still have low testosterone levels suggestive of hypogonadism during a minimum 12-month follow-up period.

Summary: The study found that additional serum testosterone suppression below 20 ng/dL did not necessarily lead to better outcomes compared to levels between 20-49 ng/dL in patients with localized prostate cancer. Time to testosterone recovery after androgen deprivation therapy and high-dose radiotherapy did not impact clinical failure.

Summary: The purpose of this article was to investigate whether people with different baseline BMIs achieve different weight loss results and whether the rate of weight loss remains constant during intervention. The study found that overweight individuals experienced a significantly greater weight loss percentage compared to other obesity groups, and regardless of baseline BMI, the observed weight loss remained consistent throughout the 12-month period.

Summary: The study aims to describe the mental health burden experienced in Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that a considerable proportion of the population had symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD, with 43.4% having significant symptoms for at least one of the three outcomes. However, the prevalence of these symptoms in Sweden is lower than previously reported levels during the pandemic.

Summary: This study compares the pathological and molecular features of primary prostate cancer (PCa) and metastases, revealing their heterogeneity. The results highlight the importance of comprehensive immunohistochemistry-assisted pathology review and genomic analysis in determining the "index" area of primary PCa.

Summary: Exercise training combined with multinutrient supplementation had a limited effect on ameliorating the adverse musculoskeletal consequences of androgen deprivation therapy, but showed some improvement in leg muscle strength and dynamic mobility.

Summary: The sequencing of androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) and radiotherapy (RT) may affect the outcome of prostate cancer depending on the size of the RT field. A study found that the sequencing of ADT has a significant impact on clinical outcomes for men receiving ADT with prostate-only RT (PORT) or whole-pelvis RT (WPRT).

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the trajectories of symptoms of ICD-11 adjustment disorder in patients diagnosed vs. non-diagnosed with prostate cancer before, after diagnostic procedures, and at 12-month follow-up. The results showed that male patients experienced increased levels of adjustment difficulties during the diagnostic process of prostate cancer.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Nd:YAG laser as an adjunct to full-mouth scaling and root planning in patients with stage III/IV periodontitis. The study found that the adjunctive use of Nd:YAG laser was equally effective as full-mouth scaling and root planning alone throughout the study period. There was a slight, but not statistically significant improvement in probing depth at 6 and 12 months after a single post-treatment application of Nd:YAG laser for pocket epithelium removal and coagulation.

Summary: The study found that infants at 11 and 15 months of age did not fully compensate for their energy intake after consuming preloads, regardless of the time period considered. This suggests that caloric adjustment in infants remains partial and consistent over time. Future research is needed to explore factors influencing appetite control abilities in infancy, as repeated imbalances of energy intake may lead to rapid weight gain.
