Summary: Bladder urothelial carcinoma (BC) is a deadly malignancy, and Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) has been found to be highly expressed in BC tissues and cells. Knockdown of NRP1 promotes apoptosis and inhibits proliferation, angiogenesis, migration, and invasion of BC cells, potentially serving as a new therapeutic target for BC treatment. Additionally, NRP1 affects various biological functions through MAPK signaling and cancer pathways.

Summary: The study demonstrated an inverse correlation between IL1RA expression and invasive capacity and migration of bladder cancer cells, suggesting a role of IL1RA in bladder carcinogenesis. Real-time impedance sensing and porcine ex vivo organ culture methods proved to be powerful tools in discovering differences in cancer cell migration and invasion.

Summary: Research shows that MIBC cells have deficient DNA repair, high mutational susceptibility, and lower expression of DNA repair genes and TAp63 gamma, while NMIBC cells exhibit high DNA repair capacity, upregulated DNA repair genes, and higher TAp63 gamma expression. These findings suggest that TAp63 gamma plays a crucial role in regulating DNA repair capacities, mutational susceptibility, and invasion in bladder cancer, with p53m contributing to the invasion phenotype independently.

Summary: Research on TSP4 has shown its association with the prognosis of bladder cancer, indicating that TSP4 is related to the progression and prognosis of bladder cancer, and may regulate through promoting MMP2 expression and cell motility. These findings facilitate further investigation into TSP4 silencing-based therapeutic strategies for bladder cancer.

Summary: The actin cytoskeleton is crucial in platelet formation and function, with mutations in ACTN1/actinin-1 causing congenital macrothrombocytopenia (CMTP). Apart from their known role in platelet activation, actinins may have novel functions in platelet formation and maturation. Studies on the effects of CMTP-linked mutations on actinin-1 function and how they lead to changes in platelet count and morphology in patients have provided new insights.

Summary: This study evaluated the role of PDK4 in bladder cancer and its related protein changes. It was found that elevated expression of PDK4 was observed in high-grade bladder cancers. Knockdown of PDK4 in bladder cancer cells resulted in reduced cell migration and invasion. Additionally, a PDK4 knockdown xenograft model showed reduced bladder cancer growth. These findings suggest that PDK4 plays a critical role in the metastasis and growth of bladder cancer cells through changes in ERK, SRC, and JNK.

Summary: This study reveals that NUPR1 plays a carcinogenic role in bladder cancer (BLCA) and its expression is significantly higher in BLCA tissues compared to controls. Lentivirus-mediated interference of NUPR1 can delay tumor growth in BLCA by interfering with cell cycle progression and through epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Macrophages are the most related immune cells associated with the expression of NUPR1 in BLCA.

Summary: The ZNF668 gene encodes a zinc-finger protein with 16 C2H2-type zinc fingers and acts as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer. The expression of ZNF668 protein was analyzed in bladder cancer and mutations of the ZNF668 gene were examined in 68 bladder cancer cases. The protein was expressed in the nuclei of bladder cancer cells, with significantly lower expression in cases with submucosal and muscular infiltration. Somatic mutations in the gene were found in 7.3% of the cases, resulting in amino acid sequence alterations.

Summary: This article investigates the prognostic role of cyclin-dependent kinase 9 expression in urothelial carcinoma. The results show that high CDK9 expression is associated with a better prognosis, tumor grade, stage, and invasiveness, contradicting previous findings. CDK9 may play a crucial role in the early stages of urothelial carcinoma.

Summary: EGR1, a transcription factor, plays a role in tissue injury, immune responses, and fibrosis. Recent studies suggest EGR1's involvement in cancer initiation and progression, potentially affecting tumor cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. The specific mechanisms by which EGR1 modulates these processes are still under investigation.
