Is the frozen phonon model adequate to describe inelastic phonon scattering?

It is proven in a rigorous way that the frozen phonon model that is currently used to account for phonon scattering in multislice calculations, is equivalent to a full quantum-mechanical treatment of the inelastic phonon scattering process. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
