Summary: Ultrasound treatment can improve protein solubility and curcumin encapsulation rate, but excessive exposure can lead to sample aggregation. After freeze drying and redispersion, the sample treated with ultrasound for 12 minutes showed minimal aggregation and curcumin loss. This study has practical significance for developing the delivery of hydrophobic active substances.

Summary: Cancer is a widespread disease with various treatment modalities and challenges. Chemotherapy has limitations due to toxicity and drug resistance. Curcumin, a natural compound with multiple therapeutic properties, has poor solubility and limited bioavailability. Cyclodextrin complexes of curcumin improve its properties, and beta-cyclodextrin is commonly used. This review focuses on comparing different curcumin-cyclodextrin formulations.

Summary: In this study, a method was developed to predict wg' using the thermodynamic model PC-SAFT and one experimental data point of Tg' for (1) single excipients, (2) given compositions of a binary excipient mixture, and (3) single excipients in aqueous (model) protein solutions. The results show that this new approach can accurately predict wg' in the systems considered, including the non-linear course of wg' identified for different sucrose/ectoine ratios, as well as the course of wg' as function of the protein concentration. This newly developed method greatly reduces the experimental effort required.

Summary: The paper presents the synthesis and characterization of inclusion complexes (ICs) based on curcumin (CUR) and beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD), with IC-2 showing superior encapsulation efficiency. Nanoparticles (NPs) of IC-2 demonstrated the finest particle diameter and minimal variation, making them suitable for potential biomedical applications with controlled release properties. The study highlights the possibility of using IC-2 for electrospraying on implant and device surfaces to enhance the efficacy and stability of CUR release.
