Summary: In this study, a method for synthesizing starch phosphate using the transferase properties of alkaline phosphatase was successfully explored. The crystallinity and enthalpy of the phosphorylated samples were reduced by up to 26.8% and 23.3%, respectively, and the grafting of phosphate radicals was further confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry.

Summary: Introduction of a functional maltase (MAL) from baker's yeast into mex1 chloroplasts alleviates most phenotypic peculiarities typical for mex1 plants, although the cpMAL lines still contain slightly less maltose and higher starch levels. This approach bypasses the MEX1 transporter and highlights the importance of stromal maltose accumulation in preventing frost defects.

Summary: Although we have a better understanding of the gene networks controlling specific cell responses during developmental processes, we still need to determine how these networks cooperate and how signals become integrated. The JNK pathway, a key element in modulating cellular responses during development, interacts with additional regulators whose mechanisms remain largely unknown. In studying the regulation of puc expression, it was found that the JNK activity responds to some, but not all, specific enhancers, highlighting the complexity of puc expression regulation and the involvement of JNK activities in previously unknown processes during Drosophila development.

Summary: This study reveals a novel regulatory network involving MaMsrA4-mediated redox regulation of the ethylene signaling component MaEIL9 in banana fruit ripening. MaEIL9 plays a positive role in banana fruit ripening. The oxidation of methionines in MaEIL9 leads to the loss of its specific functions.

Summary: Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are crucial for cell functioning, with DUSP9 playing a significant role in regulating MAPK activity. Dysregulation of MAPKs by phosphatases like DUSP9 can lead to various human pathologies, emphasizing the importance of careful regulation in maintaining proper cell functioning.

Summary: Proteomic approaches have revealed the interaction between potato starch granules and various proteins, most of which are involved in starch metabolism. The study also found that GWD and PWD, two dikinases associated with starch degradation, play an important role in storage starch synthesis. Additionally, there were differences in the starch-interacting protein profiles of transgenic and wild type tubers under different storage temperatures, indicating differential expression in response to environmental changes.

Summary: Endosomal signaling downstream of GPCRs plays a significant role in cellular responsiveness to cAMP, leading to distinct changes in phosphorylation reactions. A subset of proteins undergo dephosphorylation in response to cAMP, with compartmentalized PP2A activation by cAMP-responsive kinases as the likely mechanism.
