Summary: A facile one-step ring-closure methodology was established to obtain a novel macrocyclic tellurocarbonate series, which was further used to develop well-defined poly(telluride-carbonate)s through one-pot organocatalytic ring-opening polymerization. This work provides a strategy for utilizing heterotellurium macrocarbonates as feedstocks in polymer synthesis of degradable tellurium-containing materials.

Summary: This article discloses a method for synthesizing thiourea derivatives using elemental sulfur and nitromethane as starting materials. The method utilizes the multi-electron auto-redox property of nitromethane in the presence of sulfur and amines, enabling the synthesis without the addition of any oxidant or reductant.

Summary: A new small library of molecules containing bis-urea/thiourea pendants in lysine conjugated to three different heterocycles has been synthesized and shown to exhibit potent antimicrobial activity. The presence of urea/thiourea, substituent, and heterocycle is found to be crucial for exerting strong biological effects, with isoxazole being particularly beneficial. Docking studies have demonstrated exceptional binding efficiency for some of the active compounds, indicating their potential as drug candidates for microbial-related diseases.

Summary: The mechanism of a thiazepinone ring expansion reaction was investigated, revealing that sulfone derivatives exhibit a higher rate of ring expansion compared to thioethers. Additionally, in certain cases, the cis- and trans-isomers of the resulting products were found to be stabilized through intramolecular hydrogen bonds.

Summary: The synthesis of new heterocyclic thiourea dianion complexes resulted in a four membered ring structure with the sulfur atom trans to the phosphine ligand. These complexes exhibited similar behavior to non-substituted thiourea dianion complexes and showed good antibacterial activity, with complexes 4 and 2 demonstrating high activity values.

Summary: An ultrasonic approach has been developed for the synthesis of selenium-containing derivatives of chitin and chitosan. The synthetic procedure is simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly. The derivatives show high antibacterial and antifungal activity, surpassing the effect of classic antibiotics. Furthermore, they exhibit promising transfection activity and act as efficient catalysts for alcohol oxidation.
