Summary: Memantine, a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist, may prevent AChE inhibition by soman, potentially explaining its antidotal effect in soman poisoning. Its metabolite Mrz 2/373 is a more potent inhibitor of AChE than the parent compound. Further studies are needed to explore the potential effect on aging of the soman-AChE complex.

Summary: In this study, 42 derivatives with a C-N bond were designed based on the structure of Hup A, and their binding capability with AChE was verified through molecular docking. Six compounds showed longer protective capacities against soman-induced death in mice than Hup A and had lower acute oral toxicity.

Summary: The study focused on the mechanism of nerve agent inhibition of human acetylcholinesterase (hAChE) and explored the differences in reactivator efficacy among various G-series nerve agents. The results revealed the impact of hAChE active site plasticity on agent selectivity, providing new insights for the development of next-generation reactivators.

Summary: This study examined the effects of different types of lactose monohydrate on carrier properties and enzyme stability. Samples containing lactose with spherical particles showed better resistance to heat and moisture degradation, higher hardness, and improved sensitivity compared to samples containing crystalline particles.

Summary: The goal of this study was to simplify the purification process and increase the yield of butyrylcholinesterase. By extracting the enzyme from frozen Cohn IV-4 fraction and using a 1-step chromatography method, the yield of butyrylcholinesterase increased by 200%. This new method significantly reduces production costs by optimizing the yield of 99% pure butyrylcholinesterase.

Summary: Nerve agent-induced status epilepticus poses challenges in treatment, with current guidelines showing limited effectiveness. Aggressive treatment with a three-line approach is necessary for positive outcomes in NA poisoning-related SE patients.

Summary: The study evaluated the beneficial effects of rosinidin in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced learning and memory impairment in rats. Results showed that rosinidin significantly reduced LPS-induced neurobehavioral impairments, oxidative stress, neuroinflammatory markers, and reversed the Ach enzyme activities and BDNF levels towards normal.

Summary: The study found that A1AR agonists can provide neuroprotection and prevent cognitive and behavioral deficits caused by soman poisoning. The use of an active avoidance shuttle box task showed that animals treated with A1AR agonists exhibited more avoidance responses and a faster reaction to aversive stimuli compared to the soman/saline control group.

Summary: The mechanism of toxic action for organophosphates involves persistent inhibition of acetylcholinesterase, leading to hyperstimulation of the nervous system. Differences in their chemistries result in varied metabolism and toxicity. Age-related differences in sensitivity to organophosphates in mammals are primarily influenced by detoxication capacities.

Summary: Investigation into the molecular mechanisms underlying nerve agent-induced pathology has been prompted by the increasing use of nerve agents as deadly weapons. While less toxic organophosphorus agents like DFP are used in academic research laboratories to mimic nerve agent poisoning, the neuropathology resulting from DFP-induced status epilepticus has been found to differ from that observed following nerve agent poisoning.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the neuroprotective effects of terpenoids on rats with streptozotocin and nicotinamide-induced type-2 diabetes. In silico studies were conducted for 68 terpenoids using AutoDock 4.2. In vitro cholinesterase and alpha-amylase enzyme inhibitory assays were performed. In vivo neuroprotective studies were conducted on male wistar rats, showing that alpha-Bisabolol could act as a potential drug candidate in the management of diabetic Alzheimer's disease.

Summary: The search for tacrine derivatives for potential Alzheimer's disease treatment is ongoing, with 7-MEOTA emerging as a potent alternative with fewer side effects. However, there is incomplete information on pharmacokinetics, toxicity, absorption, and CNS penetration of these derivatives. Structural differences between tacrine and 7-MEOTA result in varying plasma profiles and CNS targeting.
