Summary: Our study found that rice genotypes with improved metabolism and spikelet fertility can maintain productivity under drought conditions. Furthermore, traits that induce stress response are equally important for rice's tolerance to severe stress. By analyzing the molecular and phenotypic variations of 851 rice lines, we identified markers that are linked to acquired tolerance traits and are strongly correlated with spikelet fertility.

Summary: This study analyzed the differentially expressed genes between two rice genotypes under heat stress and constructed a co-expression network. Ribosome and protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum were identified as common pathways in response to heat stress, and changes in starch and sucrose metabolism may contribute to sensitivity to heat stress in one genotype.

Summary: Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is a conserved protein involved in maintaining protein folding and refolding in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. In the red alga Neopyropia yezoensis, we identified genes encoding HSP70 proteins in different cellular compartments. We found that membrane fluidization plays a role in the heat-induced expression of HSP70 genes in this alga. Our results suggest a unique regulatory system for heat-induced expression of HSP70 genes in N. yezoensis.

Summary: Sensing and responding to changes in ambient temperature is crucial for the survival of all living organisms. A study on the response of rice seedlings to elevated temperatures revealed uniquely regulated genes and pathways in the heat-tolerant rice cultivar, particularly associated with auxin and ABA as part of the heat stress response. Analysis of regulatory network between transcription factors and their target genes under various temperature conditions provided insights into temperature-responsive genes and potential candidates for thermotolerance in rice.

Summary: The study investigated the expression of Hsp70 genes in the Antarctic yeast, Glaciozyma antarctica, under different thermal treatments. Two Hsp70 genes, GaHsp70-1 and GaHsp70-2, were identified and cloned, with GaHsp70-1 showing higher expression than GaHsp70-2 after heat and cold exposure. ATP hydrolysis analysis revealed that these psychrophilic chaperones can function at a wide range of temperatures. Structural analysis showed that the proteins have the flexibility to function at low temperatures and retain their functional activity at ambient temperatures. Both analyzed HSP70s played important roles in the physiological adaptation of G. antarctica.

Summary: In this study, 620 diverse rice accessions were evaluated for heat tolerance at the seedling stage, and six loci associated with heat tolerance were identified through a genome-wide association study. Among these loci, qHT7 showed the strongest association signal and the most associated SNPs. By comparing the transcriptomes of two representative accessions, LOC_Os07g48710 was identified as a promising candidate gene in qHT7, and its Hap4 was determined to be the favorable haplotype for heat tolerance. This study provides valuable candidate genes for improving rice heat tolerance through molecular breeding.

Summary: The exposure of rose plants to high temperature affects their growth and development. Research shows that histone acetylation, a dynamic and reversible process mediated by histone deacetylases (HDAC) and histone acetyltransferases (HAT), plays an important role in plant development and response to stress. In this study, the identification and analysis of HDAC and HAT genes in the Rosa chinensis 'Old Blush' genome provided insights into the potential molecular mechanisms underlying rose plants' response to high-temperature conditions.

Summary: In this study, a systematic analysis of trihelix transcription factors was conducted in the maize genome. It was found that 11 genes in this family were regulated by heat stress, and they were unevenly distributed on different chromosomes. Furthermore, variations in protein length, molecular weight, and isoelectric point were observed in the encoded proteins. The expression levels of ZmTHs were significantly altered under heat and drought stresses.

Summary: The recruitment of coactivators like Mediator plays a crucial role in the transcriptional regulation of heat stress-inducible genes in plants. Differential requirements of Mediator were observed among genes, with TF genes showing a higher need for Mediator. Additionally, the recruitment of Mediator by HsfA1s was found to be essential for the expression of heat stress-inducible genes, highlighting the importance of differential Mediator recruitment in the precise control of heat stress responses in plants.

Summary: The heat shock protein 70 family (HSP70) is one of the most diverse HSP families in terms of structure and function. Two new HSP70 genes (Bthsp70-2 and Bthsp70-3) were isolated from the phloem-feeding insect Bemisia tabaci, and their expression patterns during thermal stress were found to differ, expanding the understanding of HSP roles in B. tabaci.
