Summary: This review discusses recent discoveries about transient receptor potential and their role in thermoregulatory mechanisms of animals, emphasizing the importance of understanding how these receptors are activated and the pathways they use to recognize specific thermal sensations. Ongoing research aims to develop therapeutic approaches targeting these receptors to improve non-human animals' quality of life. The review presents and analyzes findings on TRP structure, physiology, and neurotransmission in thermoregulation, highlighting the need for further studies to advance our understanding of these mechanisms and control thermoregulatory disorders.

Summary: Pharmacomodulation of membrane channels is a crucial field in understanding physiological conditions and diseases. Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, especially TRPM, TRPV, and TRPC, have been shown to mediate pain sensation, neuropsychiatric disorders, and epilepsy, providing potential therapeutic targets. This review emphasizes the importance of these TRP channels and their potential for future clinical treatments, giving patients hope for improved care.

Summary: EMT is a tightly regulated process essential for normal development but can also lead to fibrosis and cancer progression. Calcium is a key player in translating molecular messages during EMT, and calcium-permeable ion channels play a significant role in influencing cellular phenotype. TRP channels, as cellular sensors, are important proteins involved in decoding physical and chemical stimuli, making them ideal candidates to study in the context of phenotypic transitions like EMT.

Summary: Maintaining the correct ionic gradient is crucial for cellular homeostasis, and the TRP channel family and zinc play important roles in brain disease. Dysregulation of ionic gradients in diseases like ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury leads to excessive release of zinc, causing cell damage. Regulating zinc homeostasis and blocking zinc translocation via TRP channels can protect against brain damage. These findings suggest that targeting zinc and TRP channels could be a potential strategy for treating brain diseases.

Summary: Epilepsy is a prevalent and disabling brain disorder characterized by spontaneous seizures. The current medications for epilepsy are not effective for over 30% of patients and have significant adverse effects. Identifying novel drug targets, such as TRP channels, can lead to new therapies for epilepsy.

Summary: With the recent interest in medical marijuana, research into cannabinoids is regaining wider attention. Cannabinoids are known to modulate cutaneous inflammation, pain, and itch by acting on different receptors. Rosacea may be associated with transient receptor potential ion channels, and cannabinoids may play a potential role in treating rosacea by affecting these pathways.

Summary: The autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis of various organ systems, including the cardiovascular system. Mechanosensors within the body are important for blood pressure regulation, but their precise molecular identity is still unclear. Understanding these mechanosensors is essential for the development of therapies for conditions involving impaired baroreflex function.
