Summary: Hydrolytically degradable poly(beta-thioether ester ketal) thermosets were synthesized by radical-mediated thiol-ene photopolymerization using different ketal structures and pH values as tunable factors. Complete degradation was observed under acidic, neutral pH, and high humidity conditions, showing tunable degradation rates.

Summary: An operationally simple synthesis of Z-configured and C3-unsubstituted N-sulfonyl-2-iminocoumarins can be achieved by reacting 2-(1-hydroxyprop-2-yn-1-yl)phenols with sulfonyl azides. The cascade process likely starts with a copper-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition reaction, leading to the formation of the desired product.

Summary: Injectable long-acting prodrug-based microcrystals with an acid-sensitive ketal linker were synthesized for developing extended-release antipsychotic drugs. The drug exposure was prolonged in rats treated with the prodrug-based microcrystals, and the release rate decreased with increasing microcrystal size. Moreover, the drug release from the microcrystals was considerably decreased in an inflammation model, indicating an immune-mediated boost in release post-injection.

Summary: The carbonyl-alkyne metathesis (CAM) reaction is a versatile method to access alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, which are important precursors and structural motifs in biologically active substances. We developed an efficient organic Lewis acid catalytic system that promotes both intramolecular and intermolecular CAM reactions. Our metal-free protocol can produce a diverse family of useful organic structures from a broad range of substrates.

Summary: Eight new lignans, named dracomolphin A-E, and eight known lignans were isolated from the aerial part of Dracocephalum moldavica. Dracomolphin A was elucidated as a mixture of two diastereomeric pairs of enantiomers, all successfully separated by chiral HPLC. Some compounds showed potential Nrf2 transcriptional activation and antilung cancer cell activity.

Summary: We describe an efficient semihydrogenation of terminal alkynes using a modified tetramethylated PNP pincer Fe hydride complex. The modified complex shows different reactivity compared to a classical PNP Fe hydride complex with CH2 arms, which predominantly catalyzes terminal alkyne dimerization even in the presence of H-2. The modified PNP ligand allows for selective alkene formation, eliminating dimerization side products and minimizing overreduction.

Summary: A palladium-catalyzed tail-to-tail reductive dimerization reaction of terminal alkynes is reported for the first time, leading to the efficient transformation of aromatic and aliphatic alkynes into 2,3-dibranched butadienes. The control of reaction solution acidity, achieved by a combination of pivalic acid and para-toluenesulfonic acid, is crucial for the selective tail-to-tail reductive dimerization reaction, which is proposed to proceed via a cationic alkenyl palladium intermediate under acidic conditions.

Summary: The paper describes an electrochemical method for the synthesis of N-vinyl benzotriazoles by coupling olefins with benzotriazoles to form C(sp(2))-N bonds. It is a highly atom-economic and clean reaction, with nBu4NI serving as both an electrolyte and an iodine mediator, and hydrogen as the only byproduct.

Summary: The design of organometallic complexes is crucial in modern organic chemistry and catalysis. On-surface synthesis has recently emerged as a disruptive method to design compounds and nanomaterials previously considered impossible. The activation of inner diacetylene moieties of a molecular precursor by copper surface adatoms has led to the formation of unprecedented organocopper metallacycles on Cu(111), paving the way for new avenues in organometallic compound engineering and polyyne chemistry on surfaces.

Summary: Chiral transition metal complexes with privileged ligands are efficient catalysts for various asymmetric organic transformations. Transition metal complexes of C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands have been widely used in asymmetric organic reactions. However, a comprehensive review article on the transition metal complexes of chiral C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands derived from (L)-proline has not been published.
