Summary: This study reports the design, synthesis, and application of naturally occurring cellulose from agro waste pomegranate peel as a novel support for active biogenic Pd nanoparticles for Suzuki-Miyaura and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions at room temperature. The cellulose matrix enables well dispersion of Pd nanoparticles over the support to generate Pd@cellulose, exhibiting excellent catalytic activity and recyclability under ligand-free mild reaction conditions. The synthesized cellulose nanofibers and Pd-anchored heterogeneous nanofibers were characterized through various analytical techniques.

Summary: The high stability heterogeneous catalyst HS@PdPPh2@MSN was constructed by immobilizing bis((diphenylphosphino)ethyltriethoxysilane)palladium acetate onto the inner wall of a mesoporous organicsilicane hollow shell, showing a well-defined single-site active species within the silicate network. It enabled an efficient Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction with up to 95% yield in mild conditions, and could be reused at least five times with good activity, making it a cost-effective and easily synthesized candidate for fine chemical engineering.

Summary: In recent years, there has been extensive research on immobilizing palladium nanoparticles on solid supports for the preparation of active and stable catalytic systems. Compared to inorganic materials, naturally occurring organic solids are more cost-effective and readily available. This review focuses on the application of metal catalysts supported by natural biomaterials in C-C bond formation reactions, specifically Mizoroki-Heck, Suzuki-Miyaura, and Sonogashira reactions. Different types of organic matrices, such as cellulose, starch, pectin, agarose, chitosan, as well as proteins and enzymes, are discussed, highlighting the heterogeneous nature and recyclability of each catalyst.

Summary: This paper reports the application of a silk fibroin-supported Palladium catalyst (Pd/SF) in Suzuki-Miyaura and Ullmann coupling reactions of aryl chlorides. The existence of catalytic pockets where monoatomic palladium species can form stable complexes with SF is hypothesized and supported by experimental analysis. The size of the catalytic pocket of Pd/SF is estimated to be approximately 15 angstroms using computational modeling.

Summary: Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction is a powerful method to construct carbon-carbon bonds and is widely used in the synthesis of functional organic compounds. In this study, zeolite-encased Pd particles (Pd@MFI) were successfully prepared and investigated as promising heterogeneous catalysts for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The Pd@MFI catalysts showed high activity, with dispersed Pd particles efficiently stabilized within the MFI zeolite matrix. The presence of basic sites adjacent to Pd sites was crucial for achieving high catalytic activity.

Summary: The catalytic activities of palladium nanoparticles on a polyaniline support were improved by tungsten doping, resulting in a significantly increased catalyst turnover number (>10(4)) for the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction. Characterization of the materials showed that tungsten doping improved the micro-morphology, leading to more efficient absorption of reactants. Additionally, tungsten facilitated stabilization of Pd(0) species and the transmetallation step, both crucial for the catalytic reaction. Therefore, Pd/W@PANI engineering material may serve as a highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst in the pharmaceutical industry.

Summary: In this study, a new heterogeneous catalyst Pd-NHC@Eu-BCI was synthesized by incorporating N-heterocyclic carbene-palladium active sites into a 2D coordination polymer based on a 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)imidazolium ligand. The catalyst was thoroughly characterized using various analytical techniques. The Pd-NHC@Eu-BCI catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. It could be easily recovered from the reaction mixture and maintained its catalytic activity and structure even after five cycles.

Summary: Pd/C catalysts on activated carbon with varying palladium content showed high catalytic activity for Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions and Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions. The catalyst with 3% Pd/C demonstrated better efficiency and reusability compared to other synthesized catalysts, indicating the significance of high 'Pd' content and uniform impregnation on the catalyst activity.

Summary: The CS-EDTA-Pd catalyst was prepared by dissolving chitosan and EDTA in acetic acid, forming beads, adsorbing palladium(II), and reducing it to palladium(0) with ethanol reflux. The catalyst was characterized by various techniques. It was then tested in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction and showed good catalytic activity. The catalyst is inexpensive, easy to prepare, and can be reused multiple times with only a slight loss in product yields.
