A copper-catalyzed cascade coupling/cyclization of terminal alkynes with alpha-alkyl substituted diazoesters is developed. This new method furnished a straightforward route for 2,3,5-trisubstituted furan derivatives with good efficiency and selectivity. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
