Summary: The paper presents a method for synthesizing highly substituted spirocyclic cyclobutanes through catalytic arylation of cyclobutenes using Cu/Pd or Ni catalysts. The identification of a suitable Cu complex for arylboration is crucial for achieving high selectivity in Cu/Pd catalyzed reactions. The synthetic utility of the products is demonstrated, with mechanistic details discussed.

Summary: Redox-active azothioformamides ligands can rapidly coordinate to transition metals and form unique coordination complexes upon addition of metal salt. The experiment results indicate that alkyl azothioformamide ligands do not exhibit redox activity when binding to copper(I) salts.

Summary: In this paper, a copper-catalyzed cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction was reported to synthesize a series of N-methoxy-1 phosphoryloxy imidates. The O-functionalization of N-methoxamides was achieved while avoiding N-functionalization. The study demonstrated the essential role of the N-methoxy group in the selectivity and activity of the reaction.

Summary: By using Raman spectroscopy and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, we investigated the conformational equilibrium of cations in N,N-diethyl-N-methyl-N-(2-methoxyethyl) ammonium ([DEME][X], X = BF4 and I) ionic liquid (IL)-water mixtures as a function of water concentration. We observed that the folded form of the [DEME] cation remained stable regardless of the anion species and its proportion in the mixtures did not change significantly with water concentration. This behavior was different from that of imidazolium IL-water mixtures, where the equilibrium shifted with water concentration. Interestingly, the stability of the [DEME] cations in the mixtures was unrelated to the states of water molecules. We speculated that the intramolecular attractive interaction between the N and O atoms in the [DEME] cation might play a key role in maintaining the stability of the folded form.

Summary: An efficient Cu-catalyzed strategy for the direct C–H amination of arenes in high yields using N-hydroxyphthalimide as the amidyl radical precursor under air is reported. A possible mechanism is proposed that proceeds via a radical reaction in the presence of CuBr and triethyl phosphite.

Summary: Efficient methods were developed for the synthesis of furan-fused tricyclic compounds using a regiodivergent intramolecular carbometalation strategy. Two different sequences were employed, resulting in 2,3,4,5-tetrasubstituted naphtho[1,2-b]furans and 2,3-disubstituted 4-alkylidene-4H-indeno[1,2-b]furans. These methods provide access to a wide range of polysubstituted naphtho[1,2-b]furans and indeno[1,2-b]furans in a positional selective manner.

Summary: This article develops an efficient and convenient palladium-catalyzed carbonylation reaction for the synthesis of 2-cyano-N-acetamide and 2-cyanoacetate compounds. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions via a radical intermediate, suitable for late-stage functionalization. Gram-scale experiment was successfully performed with low catalyst loading, yielding the target product excellently. Additionally, this transformation can be carried out under atmospheric pressure and provides alternative routes to drug precursors.

Summary: A new synthetic strategy for synthesizing 2-imino-1,3,4-selenadiazole derivatives has been proposed, which involves sequential oxidation and a tributylphosphine-promoted annulation reaction. The method has the advantages of absence of transition metals and potential for gram-scale synthesis.

Summary: This study reveals the influence of Pd deposition pH value on the catalytic performance of Pd-CuO/SiO2 catalyst for the semi-hydrogenation of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol. The results show that the pH value at which Pd was deposited plays a crucial role in determining the catalytic activity and selectivity of the catalyst.

Summary: The first hydride-containing 2-electron palladium/copper alloys, PdHCu11 and PdHCu12, were synthesized. X-ray diffraction reveals that the PdHCu11 and PdHCu12 kernels consist of a central PdH unit encapsulated within a vertex-missing Cu-11 cuboctahedron and complete Cu-12 cuboctahedron, respectively. PdHCu11 shows excellent HER activity, with an onset potential of -0.05 V (at 10 mA cm(-2)) and consistent HER activity during 1000 cycles in 0.5 M H2SO4.

Summary: In this study, the pKa values of AMPA functional group were calculated by first-principles density functional theory (DFT), and the interaction mechanism between Cu(II) and Ni(II) with AMPA was elucidated by electron localization function (ELF) and ligand field theory. The results showed that Cu(II) can replace protons of AMPA and form chelating substrates, while Ni(II) cannot. Moreover, Cu(II) has stronger interaction with AMPA compared to Ni(II), demonstrating its selective adsorption ability.
