Summary: Materials exhibiting multi-photon absorption (MPA), such as metal alkynyl complexes, have significant potential applications in microfabrication, bio-imaging and sensing, and photodynamic therapy. The collinear structure of metal and alkynyl ligand in these complexes promotes strong electron delocalization and intra-molecular charge transfer, leading to outstanding MPA behavior.

Summary: The synthesis of imines is a foundational aspect of organic chemistry. Alcohols can be used as renewable substitutes for carbonyl-functionality, allowing for the in situ generation of carbonyl moieties from alcohols using transition-metal catalysis under inert atmosphere or bases under aerobic conditions. In this study, we report the synthesis of imines from benzyl alcohols and anilines using (KOBu)-Bu-t as a catalyst under aerobic conditions at room temperature, without the need for a transition-metal catalyst. We also present a detailed investigation of the underlying radical mechanism, revealing a complex reaction network that supports the experimental findings.

Summary: The additive-free copper(I)-bromide-mediated radical cyclization reactions of alpha,alpha-dibromo beta-iminoesters successfully enabled the synthesis of a series of 5- or 6-brominated 2-aryl-1H-indole-3-carboxylates in moderate to good yields. Mechanistic study revealed the bromine atom originated from the substrates and the bromination might be related to a 3-bromo-3H indole intermediate.

Summary: An efficient metal-free strategy has been developed for the synthesis of alpha-substituted homoallylamine derivatives via a 2-aza-Cope rearrangement promoted by HFIP. This method provides rapid access to the desired products with excellent functional group tolerance and high yields, without the need for chromatographic purification. The synthetic utility of this method is further demonstrated through the transformation of benzophenone ketimines into various compounds.

Summary: This article discusses a more difficult yet more practical source-free transfer setting, where there are only the models pretrained in source domain and limited target data can be available. To address the challenges of the absence of source data and distribution discrepancy in cross-domain SOC estimation, a novel source-free temperature transfer network (SFTTN) is proposed, which can mitigate domain shift adaptively. Experiment results indicate that SFTTN can achieve robust and accurate SOC estimation at different ambient temperatures under source-free scenario.

Summary: beta-Alkynyl substituted gamma,gamma-difluoroallyl-boronates were prepared through defluorination under basic condition. Allylation reaction of aldehydes with gem-difluoroallylboronates in water under metal-free condition was developed, with water as the sole solvent significantly improving the efficiency of the reaction and yielding the desired products in 48-92% yields. The corresponding difluorinated alcohols were smoothly transformed into the 3,3-difluoro-4-methylene-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran derivatives in the presence of gold catalyst.

Summary: A base-mediated, green, microwave-assisted efficient method for the synthesis of a diverse benzoxanthone library from readily accessible gamma-alkynyl 1,3-diketones was reported in this study. The synthesis involves tandem reactions including intramolecular cyclization, propargyl-allenyl isomerization, and electrocyclization in one pot, resulting in the formation of new C-C and C-O bonds.

Summary: This study found that photoperiodic flowering in rice is enhanced under low-temperature conditions, while rapid reduction of Ghd7 messenger RNA under high-temperature conditions can lead to an increase in the mRNA of a rice florigen gene, RFT1. Multiple temperature-sensing mechanisms can affect photoperiodic flowering in rice.

Summary: A liquid metal interfacial engineering strategy was developed for the synthesis of porous carbon with abundant functional groups using CCl4 as the carbon precursor and NaK as the reducing agent. This method allows for the direct generation of porous carbon at ambient temperature through the engineering of a highly active liquid metal alloy microemulsion. The synthesized porous carbon can be tandem-grafted with specific compounds to achieve a CO2 cycloaddition catalyst, which exhibits excellent catalytic activity and stability.

Summary: A catalytic system utilizing visible light iridium photoredox catalysis has been developed for synthesizing alpha-amino amides through the umpolung reactivity of ketimines. Cross-couplings between various ketimine and isocyanate substrates have been evaluated, leading to good yields of the desired products. Additionally, a metal-free catalytic system and the successful synthesis of a benzodiazepine-2-one analogue indicate the significant application potential of the developed synthetic method.

Summary: Chiral transition metal complexes with privileged ligands are efficient catalysts for various asymmetric organic transformations. Transition metal complexes of C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands have been widely used in asymmetric organic reactions. However, a comprehensive review article on the transition metal complexes of chiral C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands derived from (L)-proline has not been published.
