The new genus and species Lutevanaphis permianagen.n. et sp.n., represents the oldest Aphidomorpha, new superfamily Lutevanaphidoidea superfam.n. and new family Lutevanaphididae. This taxon is described from the Middle Permian of the Lodeve Basin, southern France. The presence of very small Aphidomorpha in the Middle Permian contradicts the hypothesis of the Lilliput effect' that is presumed to have affected the insect fauna during the Early to Middle Triassic, after the end-Permian crisis. Very small insects were present well before the end of the Permian; their relative rarity is attributable probably to taphonomic biases.

First Caliscelidae planthopper (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha) from mid-Miocene Zhangpu amber

Ci-Hang Luo, Vladimir M. Gnezdilov, Zhi-Shun Song, Jacek Szwedo

Summary: A new extinct genus and species, Zhangpumazus sheni n. gen. n. sp., belonging to the planthopper family Caliscelidae, is described from mid-Miocene Zhangpu amber. It is the second fossil record of this family and the first formally described planthopper species from the Zhangpu biota. This new taxon is closely related to Delhina eurybrachydoides and can be classified under the subfamily Ommatidiotinae, tribe Adenissini, and the subtribe Coinquendina. It also shares some characteristics with Phusta dantela from the subtribe Pteriliina. The discovery of Zhangpumazus sheni suggests a wider distribution of related groups in Southeast Asia during the Miocene.

Summary: This study describes a new extinct ant species found in Miocene-aged Ethiopian amber, using advanced 3D-imaging technology. The discovery led to a revision of ant classification and provided insights into ant evolution. The research highlights the value of fossils for studying evolutionary processes and the potential of imaging technologies in this field.

Summary: A new planthopper species called Sinosurijikocixius tongchuanensis gen. et sp. nov. belonging to the family Surijokocixiidae was discovered in the Tongchuan Formation in Shaanxi, NW China during the Middle Triassic period (Ladinian). The study also reviewed and compared all known taxa assigned to Surijokocixiidae. Furthermore, the paleogeographic distributional pattern of Surijokocixiidae from the middle Permian to Late Triassic was summarized.

A new Jaculistilus species of Mimarachnidae (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha) from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber of northern Myanmar, with geometric morphometric analysis of the mimarachnid genera

Hui Jiang, Jun Chen, Jacek Szwedo

Summary: Geometric morphometric analysis of the forewings of Mimarachnidae insects revealed that Dachibangus formosus and D. hui are morphologically distinct from the known species of Dachibangus. Therefore, a new genus, Xiaochibangus, is proposed and these two species are transferred to this new genus. Additionally, a new species, Jaculistilus xixuanae, with well-preserved 12 eyespots on its tegmina, is described from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber in northern Myanmar, providing novel knowledge on the paleodiversity of Mimarachnidae.

The oldest genus and species of the fulgoroidian lineage in hemipteran Fulgoroidea from the Lower Cretaceous Laiyang Formation of China

Zhengqi Zhao, Thierry Bourgoin, Jacek Szwedo, Zhishun Song, Lei Chen, Cihang Luo

Summary: Laiyangella zhangi gen. et sp. nov., the first planthopper fossil from the Lower Cretaceous Laiyang formation in Shandong Province, China, is described. It exhibits cixioid venation but has fulgoroid genitalia, indicating its position as a sister group to the base of the fulgoroidian lineage in Fulgoroidea. It is an important taxon for understanding the early evolution of Fulgoroidea and highlights the need for reassessing the taxonomic diagnoses used in identifying major groups.

Summary: This article describes a new genus and species of planthoppers, Amphignokachinia subversa, which is the second genus and first fossil representative of the tribe Amphignomini from the Cenomanian amber in Kachin State, Myanmar. The diagnosis of the tribe is revised and its position among the fossils in the family Achilidae is discussed.

Discovery of the Puparia of a Whitefly Species Found on Malvaceae in the Pliocene Rajdanda Formation, Jharkhand, Eastern India

Jowita Drohojowska, Gregory A. Evans, Mahasin Ali Khan, Taposhi Hazra, Jacek Szwedo

Summary: This article describes and illustrates a new genus and species of fossil whitefly, Praealeurolobus indicus gen. et sp. nov., based on puparia discovered on leaves of a malvaceous plant from the Pliocene Rajdanda Formation in Eastern India. It is the first known occurrence of whitefly puparia on leaves from Neogene deposits in Asia, and the second formally named and described taxon of adpression fossils. Some of the puparia exhibit a large, irregularly shaped hole with jagged edges, which is typical of emergence holes caused by parasitoids of modern-day whiteflies, representing the earliest evidence of parasitism on whiteflies. This finding contributes to our understanding of the fossil record of Aleyrodidae, as well as the ecological interactions and taphonomy of fossils preserved in the Pliocene Rajdanda Formation.

Summary: Describes a new genus and species of the planthopper family Katlasidae, named Dumpyawnus hpungwanus gen. et sp. nov., found in mid-Cretaceous Kachin (Burmese) amber. The new taxon can be attributed to the Katlasidae family based on its wing structure and hind wing venation, but it differs from the type genus Katlasus Luo, Jiang et Szwedo, 2020 in terms of wing venation. The morphological features and taxonomic placement of the new species are briefly discussed.
