A smooth, adherent and nano-colloidal polyaniline (NCPANI) coating was electrosynthezied in poly(maleic acid-co-vinyl acetate) (PMAVA) matrix by cyclic voltammetry in order to protect the ferritic 430 stainless steel (430SS) from corrosion. The electrodeposited coating was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV vis and FT-IR techniques. The morphology and the structure of the film were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Corrosion behavior of coated steel was evaluated in 3.5% NaCl solution by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The obtained results revealed that NCPANI coating provided a significant protection against corrosion progression. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
