Summary: In this study, conductive polymers polypyrrole (PPY) and polyaniline (PANI) were successfully coated on cotton fabrics for efficient removal of diclofenac (DCF) and salicylic acid (SA) in water environments. The coated fabrics showed high removal efficiencies for both contaminants, with adsorption capacities of 65 and 21 mg/g for DCF and SA, respectively. The adsorption mechanism involved electrostatic attractions and van der Waals and π-π stacking.

Summary: This study demonstrates the growth and morphology control of Cu and Cu2O using a conducting polymer polyaniline (PANI) membrane as the working electrode. The oxidation state of the copper species electrodeposited on PANI surfaces can be manipulated by changing the copper precursors, leading to the formation of either zero-valent copper or cuprous oxide. This method has potential applications in the synthesis of other materials.

Summary: Environmental or abiotic stresses pose a common threat to all plants, including rice, and studies have shown that salicylic acid (SA) plays a significant role in regulating abiotic stress in rice. However, the mechanisms behind this role are still unclear and further research is needed to understand the potential mechanisms controlling SA-mediated stress tolerance in rice.

Summary: In this study, the function of SAMT in poplar plants was investigated, and it was found to play a crucial role in the defense mechanism against pathogens. Overexpression of SAMT increased the content of MeSA and decreased the content of SA. Additionally, SAMT overexpression led to higher expression of pathogenesis-related genes, but did not confer resistance against the fungal pathogen.

Summary: In this study, transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana expressing hairpin RNA was developed to silence S. sclerotiorum ABHYDROLASE-3, resulting in reduced infection symptoms and fungal load. RNA sequencing analysis showed enrichment of the salicylic acid-mediated systemic acquired resistance pathway and identified potential regulatory genes in plant immunity. The study also revealed the interaction between ABHYDROLASE-3 and the polyamine synthesis pathway of S. sclerotiorum during infection.

Summary: In this study, the direct chemical oxidative polymerization of melamine (MA) to obtain polymelamine (PME) was reported for the first time. The successful synthesis of PME was verified through various characterizations. PME was then used to initiate aniline (ANI) monomers, resulting in the formation of an emeraldine product called PAM(x). Furthermore, the APS oxidant was added to form hydrogel electrodes directly, labeled as PAM(x)S. Comparative analysis of PANI and PAM(x)S hydrogel supercapacitor electrodes showed that PAM(6)S exhibited a higher specific capacitance than PANI.

Summary: Bis(2-carboxyphenyl) succinate (disalicylic acid; DSA) was found to be a more effective synthetic plant-protection agent than salicylic acid, inhibiting the growth and virulence of Pectobacterium brasiliense. It was predicted to inhibit the quorum-sensing synthase of P. brasiliense more strongly than salicylic acid. DSA inhibited the biofilm formation, secretion of plant cell wall-degrading enzymes, motility, and production of acyl-homoserine lactones of P. brasiliense, as well as AHL production in a QS-negative Escherichia coli strain.

Summary: This paper reports a simple method to synthesize long PANI/Al2O3 micro-fibers using calcined-Al2O3 fibers as substrate by in situ polymerization method. In contrast, PANI/Al2O3 composite fibers were synthesized using uncalcined-Al2O3 fibers as substrate. The calcined-Al2O3 fibers had good corrosion resistance to the strong acid and could keep the long fibrous form well, while the composites from uncalcined-Al2O3 fibers become short fibers due to acid etching.

Summary: In this study, a novel type of D-A non-fused-ring copolymers was designed and synthesized to overcome the trade-off relationship between electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient in organic semiconductors. The incorporation of fluorine atoms into the polymer backbone effectively increased the ordered degree of molecular stacking and improved both the electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient. The bimodal orientation of polymers played a crucial role in decoupling the correlation between electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient.

Summary: This research focuses on the versatile substance, polyaniline/layered double hydroxide (PANI@Nd-Co/LDH), under solvothermal conditions. A thorough analysis of its structure and morphology was conducted using various analytical methods. The findings showed that PANI@Nd-Co/LDH exhibited highly sensitive and specific fluorescence detection of Pb(II) and Al(III), outperforming other heavy metal ions. The sensor demonstrated a turn-off fluorescence response for Pb(II) ions and a turn-on fluorescence response for Al(III) ions. The minimum detectable limits (MDL) were determined to be 9.6 nM for Pb(II) and 220 nM for Al(III). PANI@Nd-Co/LDH could be easily regenerated and reused for multiple cycles. The detection mechanisms involved the inner filter effect (IFE) for Pb(II) and the chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) effect for Al(III). These results highlight the excellent potential of PANI@Nd-Co/LDH in the detection and recognition of Pb(II) and Al(III) ions.
