To compare the efficacy of chlorhexidine-gluconate versus povidone iodine in preoperative skin preparation in the prevention of surgical site infections (SSIs) in clean-contaminated upper abdominal surgeries. This was a prospective randomized controlled trial conducted on patients undergoing clean-contaminated upper abdominal surgeries. A total of 351 patients 18-70 years old were randomized into two groups; chlorhexidine and povidone iodine skin preparation before surgery. The incidence of SSIs in the chlorhexidine group was 10.8 %, in comparison to 17.9 % in the povidone iodine group. The odds ratio was 0.6 in favor of chlorhexidine use, but the results were not statistically significant (P = 0.06). In the first postoperative week, SSIs developed in 7 % of patients in the chlorhexidine group and 14.1 % in the povidone iodine group (P = 0.03), and in the second postoperative week, SSIs were present in 4.1 % of the patients in the chlorhexidine group and 4.4 % in the povidone iodine group, which was not statistically significant (P = 0.88). The incidence of SSIs after clean-contaminated upper abdominal surgeries was lower with the use of chlorhexidine skin preparation than with povidone iodine preparation, although the results were not statistically significant. However, the odds ratio between the two groups favored the use of chlorhexidine over povidone iodine for preventing SSIs.

Summary: By utilizing the binary Hirota polynomial scheme, the bilinear form of the generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation was constructed, leading to multiple rogue waves-type solutions and various k-solitons waves. Through analyzing the physical phenomena of these obtained soliton solutions and selecting suitable values in figures, a better understanding of interesting physical phenomena and mechanisms can be achieved.

Summary: This paper investigates the generalized (2+1)-dimensional Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky-Kaup-Kupershmidt equation using the bilinear Hirota method to construct M-lump and N-soliton solutions with special activation functions. Analytical solutions and rogue waves are obtained through symbolic computation with Maple software. By applying the long wave limit method, different types of M-lump solutions and hybrid solutions between lump and solitons are derived. The dynamic structures and physical properties of these solutions are vividly illustrated through various plots, enriching the exact solutions of this equation in existing literature.

Summary: This paper computed solitary wave solutions and soliton wave solutions based on ansatz methods to the perturbed NLSE in nano-fibers. New optical solitons were obtained using improved tan(theta/2)-expansion method and rational extended sinh-Gordon equation expansion method. Comparison with previous results showed the perturbed NLSE in nano-fibers is used in optical problems, and symbolic computation vividly displayed their dynamic structure and physical properties.

Summary: Exact solutions for the (3 + 1)-dimensional YTSF-like equation with p = 3 and p = 5 were established using the generalized Hirota bilinear method. The solutions included M-soliton solutions, lump solutions, and three classes of interaction solutions. Additionally, N-soliton wave solutions of the equation were determined using the linear superposition principle, with the equation providing a model for studying solitons and nonlinear waves in fluid dynamics, plasma physics, and weakly dispersive media.

Summary: The multiple Exp-function scheme is used to search for multiple soliton solutions for the fractional generalized Calogero-Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff-Bogoyavlensky-Konopelchenko equation. The Hirota bilinear technique is employed to detect the lump and interaction with two stripe soliton solutions. More than twelve sets of solutions are obtained, including combinations of polynomial and exponential functions. The existence conditions are discussed for the obtained solutions.
