Summary: This study investigates the efficacy of omental wrapping in reducing anastomotic leakage and surgical site infection after esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. The results show that omental wrapping is significantly associated with decreased leakage and infection. It is recommended to use omental wrapping to reinforce the anastomotic site and improve short-term outcomes after esophagectomy.

Summary: This study compares the efficacy of the modified Collard technique and the circular stapled technique in reducing anastomotic stricture after esophagectomy. The results showed that the modified Collard technique can reduce the incidence of anastomotic stricture and improve postoperative quality of life. There was no significant difference in the incidence of anastomotic leakage between the two techniques based on objective homogenization of the gastric conduit condition.

Summary: This study compared the totally mechanical Collard (TMC) method and the circular stapled (CS) method for cervical anastomosis after minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) in esophageal cancer patients. The results showed that the TMC method was superior to the CS method in terms of anastomotic stricture and refractory stricture formation, but it did not reduce the probability of anastomotic leakage, and anastomotic leakage with the TMC method required a longer healing time.

Summary: The study found that arterial infusion chemotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for neoplastic esophagogastric anastomotic strictures after esophagectomy. Patients showed significant improvement in dysphagia and dyspnea after treatment, with a high objective effective rate and disease control rate.

Summary: This study describes two cases of esophageal carcinoma that underwent esophagus reconstruction using the distal continual colon interposition technique. The transverse colon was lifted to the thoracic cavity and anastomosed with the esophagus using an end-to-side technique. A closure device was used to close the colon instead of severing it. The patients had a quick recovery and no severe complications were reported during the follow-up period.

Summary: This study compared different techniques for cervical esophagogastric anastomosis in esophagectomy. The results showed that triangulating stapling had a lower incidence of anastomotic leakage and stricture compared to hand sewn and circular stapling techniques. Therefore, triangulating stapling should be preferred for this procedure.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of circular stapling anastomosis with indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging for cervical esophagogastric anastomosis after thoracoscopic esophagectomy. The results showed that the ICG circular group had significantly lower rates of anastomotic leakage and stenosis, as well as a shorter postoperative hospital stay, compared to the classical group.

Summary: Pharyngolaryngectomy with total esophagectomy (PLTE) is a challenging procedure for patients with synchronous head and neck cancer and thoracic esophageal cancer. Different reconstruction methods were compared in 65 patients, showing that additional procedures like microvascular anastomosis, gastric tube elongation, and free jejunum transfer can improve outcomes after PLTE.

Summary: This study investigated the expression of Moesin in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and its effect on the infiltration of immune lymphocytes. The results showed that Moesin is poorly expressed in lung cancer tissues compared to normal samples, and this expression level is strongly associated with the prognosis and TNM stage of LUAD patients. It was also found that Moesin can enhance the infiltration of multiple immune lymphocytes in lung cancer, possibly through its interaction with various inflammatory molecules.

Summary: This study revealed an unrecognized role of the sporozoite circumsporozoite protein (CSP) in subverting host innate immunity against liver stage malaria parasite. CSP reduced the levels of autophagy-related genes (ATGs) in hepatocytes, attenuating the killing effect of interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) on exo-erythrocytic forms (EEFs).
