Summary: Coatings with piezoelectric characteristics were prepared on the titanium alloy's surface to improve its biological properties, promoting bone growth and shortening bone repair time. The introduction of HA along with the high piezoelectric coefficient significantly enhanced the coating's mineralization, allowing for rapid apatite deposition and excellent biological activity for potential application in the rapid repair of bone defects.

Summary: A new SHPo/SHPi patterning method for three-dimensional objects using aluminum was proposed in this study, achieving successful realization of patterned surfaces with contact angles of 10 degrees for SHPi surface and 160 degrees for SHPo surface. This method enables patterning even in areas that laser light cannot reach, expanding the application scope of SHPo/SHPi surface patterning technique.

Summary: Solar reforming of cellulosic biomass into hydrogen is a promising approach for sustainable utilization of biomass waste and renewable energy development. This study proposes a strategy that combines enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose with photocatalytic H2 production, and synthesizes a high-performance titanium dioxide photocatalyst. By optimizing the conditions for enzymatic hydrolysis and photocatalytic reaction, and using the enzymatic depolymerized products as sacrificial agents, efficient hydrogen production from water is achieved.

Summary: The study focused on improving the physicochemical properties of ultrafiltration electrospun nanofibrous membranes (ENMs) through three approaches, including enhancing water production by adding PVP, strengthening the structure through hot pressing, and utilizing mixed solvents to enhance fiber connection. The results showed that the treated ENMs had improved tensile strength, elongation-at-break, and hydrophilicity, making them suitable for water treatment applications.

Summary: The study investigates the complex morphology of dehydrated Pseudomonas fluorescens biofilms on glass substrates and their interaction with external fluids. Longer incubation times result in higher porosity and hydrophilicity, leading to a peculiar forced wetting/spreading behavior during rotation tests. The experiment also shows that the retention force for droplet sliding on biofilm surfaces is lower than on pure glass, indicating unique wetting phenomena.

Summary: In this study, a ZnO thin film coating on an aluminum substrate was investigated. Zn thin layers were electroplated and thermally oxidized to synthesize the ZnO thin films. The samples were characterized using various techniques and it was found that the films showed different morphologies and surface roughness depending on the annealing time. The synthesized films exhibited both hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces, with the sample annealed for 2 hours at 500°C showing the highest contact angle.

Summary: The study showed that ZSM-5 zeolites with higher Si/Al ratios and abundant hydrophobic Si-O-Si linkages exhibit higher catalytic activity in the ketalization of glycerol. The hydrophobic zeolites with lower affinity for glycerol help improve the interfacial solubilization of glycerol/acetone near the active sites, enhancing the catalytic action.

Summary: This study utilized non-wettable brown coal from Neyveli mines, India to effectively remove Cr(VI) after structural modification, converting it into a wettable form with hydrophilic properties. The chemically modified coal samples were successful in removing heavy metals like Cr(VI) from artificial pollutants, with reactivated coal samples also showing potential for removing fluoride ions from pollutants.

Summary: The hydrophilic property of copper surfaces can be improved by pre-oxidation and low-temperature reduction treatment using Pt-catalyzed formic acid vapor. The reduced pure copper with high aspect ratio capillary nanoporous structures effectively enhances the hydrophilicity. The reduction kinetics of the oxidized copper surface was monitored using real-time Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The study also compared the effects of formic acid vapor concentration with N-2-5%H-2 gas and demonstrated the potential of this technology in industrial applications.
